ANSWERS TO LESSON 5 OBSERVATIONS

1.People kept spreading the news of his miracles and authoritative teaching so he was always surrounded by crowds. (1:45)

2.They thought he was out of his mind. (3:21)

3.He was healed and began to tell others about God’s mercy. (5:15-20)

4. He felt power go out from him. (5:30-31)

5.They knew him in the natural as a carpenter and they knew his parents and siblings. (6:1-6)

The four gospels have been compared to the four faces in Ezekiel chapter one Mark is clearly depicted by the servant face of the ox What stands out in the gospel of Mark is all that Jesus did Mark does not include as much of what Jesus said compared to the other gospels, but we clearly see Jesus at work

QUESTIONS FOR DEEPER THOUGHT

1.John was a messenger sent by God to call for repentance and prepare the way for Jesus by telling who he was and what he would do. (1:1-8)

2. They would be equipped to preach the gospel with signs following and thus “catch” people into the kingdom. (1:17)

3. Everyone was constantly looking for him to do something for them. (1:33-37)

4.There are times we need help from our friends to bring us to Jesus. (2:1-12)

5.Where we speak is not important, it’s what we are saying. The boat was a practical solution for Jesus because of the crowds. (3:9)

6.The word apostle means “sent one.” Jesus had equipped them and now he was sending them with the gospel. (3:13-15)

7.To understand the parables and put them into practice in contrast to those who were dull as in verses 11-12. (4:9-24)

ANSWERS TO LESSON 6 OBSERVATIONS

1.He who does a miracle in his name would not say anything bad against him, so he who is not against him is for him. If anyone gives a cup of water in his name will be rewarded. (9:39-41)

2.God created man and woman and joins them together as one. (10:6-9)

3.They shouted praises and spread their coats in front of him. (11:9-10)

4.It would be called a house of prayer for all nations. (11:17)

5.They were afraid of the crowds who followed Jesus. (12:12)

6.They didn’t know the Scriptures or the power of God. (12:24)

7.Her offering was a lot more relative to her income. (12:44)

Consider this:

Mark emphasizes what Jesus did, and more than the other gospels he mentions the hands of Jesus In the Old Testament when a priest was ordained, he was anointed on the ear, hand, and foot What a portrait of Jesus as he used his hands to bless children, heal people, and lift them up after casting out demons or raising them from the dead Jesus literally led people by the hand and has continued to do this for his people spiritually to this day

QUESTIONS FOR DEEPER THOUGHT

1.It proved to the disciples that he was God’s Son and gave them a confirmation of his upcoming resurrection. (9:2-9)

2.They would have had the faith if they’d been praying and seeking God. (9:29) [compare to Matthew 17:20-21]

3. Jesus was serious that it’s better than being in hell. It’s a hyperbole, or extreme statement, meant to convict people of complacency. (9:43-47)

4.He took children into his arms and blessed them saying everyone should receive the kingdom as a little child. (10:13-16)

5.They would experience rejection and suffering also. (10:39)

6.No one had ridden the colt yet so it was not broken in. (11:2)

7.It is prophetic of Jesus being the stone rejected by the religious leaders and then becoming the cornerstone of the kingdom. (12:10-11)

8.It’s from a prophecy in Daniel and refers to the desecration of the temple. (13:14)

9.Knowing Jesus had used these words often, it would serve as a warning to stay vigilant concerning things to come. (13)
