The Country Club at Loch Lloyd Golf Course Maintenance Update May 2019 Jeff Steen CGCS Director of Golf Course Maintenance The past two weeks of cool, wet weather have brought just over 9 inches of rain to the property and with it, many challenges for the team. These challenges create opportunity and therefore force us to work outside our normal routine to still bring forth playable conditions. As we head toward The Scotty at the end of the week, a warming trend is coming and this will allow us to catch up with our mowing and present the best possible conditions given the recent weather. Due to the wet, cool spring, the fairways are slow to recover from the winter damage and growth rates are slower than you’ve come to expect since the transition a few years ago. Please remain patient as the Zoysia fairways will improve as the weather does and in areas where it does not turn around, we will be re-sodding the week of June 3rd. In this brief update, I’ve added a few pictures of 18 fairway as representation of the Zoysia slow recovery, along with a couple of exciting initiatives showcasing some new mowing patterns around the green complexes, plus how well the native area between holes 4 and 16 is filling in. The program we started in this area will continue throughout the remaining native areas on property. We appreciate your support and patience as we continue to improve and get through the current spring weather pattern. Please contact me directly if you have any questions and/or concerns. 1
