Our team is working on the 2020 event calendar and we are excited about the great variety of events for you to enjoy next season.

With winter weather now here, I would like to remind you there are two holes cut on each green, starting December 1st. The Golf Course Maintenance team cuts two holes to help spread out traffic on the greens. We ask that when you are playing, remove the flagstick and place it in the opposite cup when you have finished putting out. Basically, you are making the group behind you play to a different hole location.

Tee times will now begin at 10a each day. These starting tee times will remain in effect until April. Please check ForeTees for daily updates on the weather forecast to be advised of any potential frost delays or inclement weather. In preparation for colder weather, the ice/water machines have been removed from the comfort station and outside the Golf Shop until next spring. This is done annually to prevent the water lines in the machines from freezing.

Be sure to join us on Wednesday, December 4th for our annual Member Appreciation Day and Sale in the Golf Shop. Details for this event may be found on the next page.

It’s that time of year where the Golf Course Maintenance team is busy behind the scenes, starting many projects that get deferred until the leaves fall and the temperatures drop. With the first snowfall and cold temperatures as low as 0 degrees coming early again (as shown in the photo below), we were forced to close the course for several days during the week of November 11th and our team has been busy with clean-up and detail work ever since!

It’s also that time of year when we blow out the irrigation system to help protect from unnecessary winter damage. The cold-weather project list is long and, as I have discussed in previous communication pieces, here are just a few of the projects we plan to accomplish this winter, as weather permits:       

Stairs at the ladies’ tee on hole #18 Pathway from 2 tees to 2 green/3tees Extensive tree work as required Detail work along creeks and ponds Maintenance shop repairs Prepping equipment for the 2020 season New drainage installation (end of fairway on hole #3)

We were very pleased with the maintenance standards of the golf course as we entered the winter months as all fall applications went well and the course conditioning exceeded our expectations.

RUTH NEWBY PRESIDENT — LOCH LLOYD LADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION

We officially ended the season on October 9th with yet another golf rainout! Although we were unable to play one last round, we were not discouraged. We gathered that evening for a final awards presentation and a fabulous dinner. Laurie Lind and Terri Thomas welcomed us with wonderful decorations, prizes and tee gifts.

I wish to thank all of you who helped make a positive impact on our golf association this year, especially the 2019 LLLGA Officers and Committee Chairs.

We are looking forward to next season! I would like to announce our new 2020 LLLGA Officers: Ruth Newby, President; Terri Thomas, Vice President; Helen Scott, Secretary; and Patty Merlie, Treasurer.

As we head into the busy holiday season, I want to thank you for your support of the Club. I also want to thank my hard-working, dedicated staff for their tireless efforts. This talented team of chefs, managers, wait staff, bartenders and kitchen assistants amazes me and makes me proud.

There are many exciting events taking place during December and we hope to see you at some of them. Our final Wine Dinner of the year, the L’Ecole Wine Dinner, on December 4th, promises to be a wonderful evening of great fare paired with fabulous wines. Of course, we’re also excited that Santa will be in the house for Santa Brunch on December 15th and that we’ll have kids of all ages building Gingerbread Houses this month! With cold weather moving in early this year, our annual Trunk or Treat moved indoors to keep the kids (and adults) warmer. We had a full house of happy ghosts, princesses and super heroes ‌ with lots of decorated stations for them to visit. A HUGE thank you to our members who volunteered their time, talents and candies.
