Some children are raised in unusual circumstances. This may be a wrenching separation or abandonment, experiences of extreme overwhelm, or other suffering experienced before the young psyche is robust enough to meet the events with emotional capacity and mental understanding.
Writing, as a creative experience, allows for children to have a space for catharsis, and invites in a capacity to release. Seeing the work from a distance, and spending time editing, then enables us to refresh the experience and include the much needed wholesome and creative ingredients. The final step then is to share our story with an attentive and validating audience - this is what Tales from the Wonder Child aims to express.
