A DIFFERENT KIND OF

cycle

Now with Female Health tracking, you can track your cycle, predict your next ovulation, your next period and log symptoms. Connect the dots between what’s going on in your body and what’s going on in your life. With a better understanding of what’s happening in your body, when it’s going to happen and when it’s time to get some rest. It’s about time for you to see the big picture. Female Health is your health, that’s why Fitbit is making it easier with Female Health Tracking on our trackers, smartwatches and the Fitbit App.

In-app period tracking

Device integration

Track where you are in your cycle, view when your period is expected and see your upcoming estimated fertile window in the new Fitbit Today personalised health dashboard on Fitbit Versa, Ionic and Charge 3.

Community support

Join new Fitbit Community Groups focused on periods, birth control, trying to conceive, pregnancy, and perimenopause and menopause to ask questions, swap tips, or share advice. Female Health Tracking is available on-device with Fitbit Ionic, Fitbit Versa, Fitbit Charge 3 and in-app on other devices.

9

Never get caught by surprise again. Log your period, record symptoms, and opt into receiving push notifications two days before and on the day of your predicted period start date so that you can compare all your stats in one place.

OK LADIES LET’S GET information Most women are unaware of the duration or phases of their monthly cycle* and what is going on inside their own bodies. Responding to requests from female users, Fitbit’s new Female Health tracking helps you get in-sync with your body and make the most of every day.

THE FACTS Better body knowledge

See how your cycle and symptoms change from month to month and uncover the impact your menstrual cycle has on your overall health. By having all of your health and fitness information in one place and looking at your data over time, you can better understand connections between your activity, sleep, and cycle symptoms.

10

More productive doctor visits

Simple tracking of symptoms and menstrual cycle data in the Fitbit app allows you to be more informed for discussions with your doctor about the specific timing and details of your symptoms, giving your doctor a clearer picture for more personalised care. Female Health tracking charts your cycle trends over time which can help your doctor determine what is normal for you, symptoms-wise, versus what may warrant additional attention.

Personalised insights

Simple tracking of symptoms and menstrual cycle data in the Fitbit app allows you to be more informed for discussions with your doctor about the specific timing and details of your symptoms, giving your doctor a clearer picture for more personalised care.

Much-needed innovation

Female Health is not an area that has garnered as much extensive population-level study as other areas in healthcare. By potentially creating one of the most extensive databases of anonymised female health metrics in the world, Fitbit has the opportunity to help drive positive health outcomes and could give Fitbit, healthcare, and research professionals an unprecedented ability to study menstrual cycles and women’s health with real-world data in the future.

*Fitbit Primary Research Study, February 2018 - 80 per cent of women don't know how many phases are in a menstrual cycle and more than 70 per cent are unable to identify the average length of a cycle correctly.

11

12

Listen TO

YOUR BODY All women are different, so ‘normal’ and ‘average’ are flexible concepts when talking about menstrual cycles. That’s why it’s so important to log symptoms and begin to understand what’s coming next. By predicting the changes, you can own them, be the boss and your own best friend. With over 2.4m users so far and 1.8m already logging at least one period*, you’re in great company with Female Health tracking.

AVOID

EXERCISE

Diet has an affect on hormones, so focus on unrefined grains like brown rice. Pile on plenty of leafy greens like kale and broccoli to replenish iron and swap dairy for calcium-rich oranges and other citrus fruits. Bananas contain moodboosting Vitamin B6, along with potassium and magnesium, both excellent for reducing water retention and bloat. Omega 3 fatty acids in salmon help to relax muscles, or try walnuts, avocado, pumpkin and flaxseeds for the same benefit.

Beat the bloat by avoiding carbonated drinks, avoiding processed foods as they are high in sodium and steering clear of legumes – peas, beans, chickpeas, lentils, soybeans and even peanuts. During your period, avoid fried foods that contain trans fats, or saturated fats as they elevate estrogen and can increase period pain and inflammation, and try keeping consumption of meat and dairy low to regulate estrogen.

Stick to your programme throughout the month to stay as healthy and fit as you can. When you experience dips in energy, be kind to yourself and be prepared to work with, not against, your hormones. When you feel at your best make the most of the energy boost and go after your goals. Exercise has a positive effect on mood so even when you’re feeling a bit ‘off’, moderate exercise can help you manage your mood and feel better.

Fitbit is with you every step of the way, helping you connect with your body and be your best every day of the month.

You go, girl!

EAT

14

Kids today are less active and more likely to be obese than ever before, so Fitbit has introduced Ace for kids aged 8 and over to help them be in charge of their health and future fitness. It’s a sad fact but the rise of technology, with all of its amazing benefits to humankind, has also encouraged children to sit for longer playing on their screens. Coupled with easy access to convenient high-calorie foods, snacks and sugary drinks, childhood obesity is on the rise globally. This presents a ticking time-bomb for health services as overweight youngsters grow into overweight adults, suffering associated illnesses such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease. While there is a welcome shift in Europe towards greater regulation in advertising, reducing children’s exposure to unhealthy foods, plus clearer food labelling, there is a real need to transform childhood exercise habits. Fitbit is committed to encouraging kids to be active in a positive way, so there is no calorie counting. Instead, it promotes healthy attitudes to activity and fun, boosting self-esteem and rewarding achievement. It counts steps and provides a useful nudge for kids to put down their screens and enjoy the power of their bodies, developing fitness habits that will see them into healthy adulthood. Through Parent View, Fitbit Ace lets parents see how their child is doing so they can encourage and motivate them further. With each step and every success, the whole family can be energised and inspired to achieve more.

15

MAKE

Activity FUN

16

POWER PURPLE ELECTRIC BLUE

Modern kids are spending more and more time sitting in front of screens - on their computers, phones and tablets. Fitbit has introduced Ace, the new tracker just for kids to help motivate them to move more and have fun being active. Styled just like the grown up Alta and available in two non-gender colours, Ace can handle whatever your kid gets into.

It’ll survive accidental handwashing or showering and its buckle strap will help keep it secure, wherever it goes. Ace engages kids in healthy competition with themselves, family and friends. A reminder to move will inspire them to clock up steps throughout the day and they can go head to head with others and win virtual trophies, compete in step challenges and compare their stats on the go.

When it comes to bedtime, parents know that getting enough quality sleep can be as much of a challenge for kids as it is for adults. Ace tracks sleep duration so you know if they are getting enough of the rest they need, to be at their best every day. With up to 5 day battery life, Ace is designed to keep up with lively kids around the clock, whatever adventures life draws them into.

FAMILY

Friendly FUN

Fitbit’s new Family Account allows parents to keep a check on their child’s progress while the kids can see their stats, collect badges and when they smash their goals, Ace buzzes with fireworks to celebrate. Since its part of an adult account, parents can rest easy that their child’s data is secure.

17

1..2..3..

AS EASY AS With the new Fitbit Ace encouraging and rewarding kids to get out and move more, parents need to keep up.

CHILD’S

BALL

There are loads of fun activities that families can do together, making sure everyone increases their steps, gets healthier and has fun. Fitbit’s Family Account allows the whole family to compare stats and set challenges to record who is ‘the boss’ when it comes to exercise. Customers looking for a way to motivate their kids and get them off their screens more of the time can try these family activities combined with Fitbit Ace to make exercise a shared pleasure for everyone.

Find some space outdoors for fun ball games. They don’t have to be as structured as proper football, tennis or baseball, pare the game down to a simple challenge for two or more players. Remember it should be achievable, so don’t set the standard too high. Encouraging fitness with fun is what Fitbit Ace is all about.

18

PLAY

GAMES

WALK

INDOOR

We all know walking works wonders. Try a circuit of your local park or a hike in the hills, and the whole family will benefit from accumulating steps while enjoying the feelgood factor of being outdoors. It’s a great way to bring the family together as you can chat and spend quality time in each other’s company. When you get home, compare who’s done the most steps and accept defeat graciously - the kids will win because they have shorter strides!

If it’s raining or dark outside, invent some fun challenges to play inside your home. Star jumps, climbing stairs or even dancing together with the kitchen radio at full volume - as long as you’re all having a good time the minutes will fly by, and the steps will add up. Set realistic goals and watch the fireworks explode on your kid’s Ace when they smash them. It’s all about celebrating achievement and being confident to enjoy moving more.

The Magic Number

WHY WALKING 10,000 STEPS A DAY MATTERS.

THE MAGIC NUMBER 10,000 steps a day sounds like a lot. If you tried to accomplish it all at once it’d take about 100 minutes at moderate intensity and just under 80 if tackled vigorously. Included as part of a typical day’s activity it’s much easier to increase steps and achieve the goal – choosing the stairs over the lift, walking to the local shops, or enjoying a stroll with the kids instead of watching TV. Regular walking at moderate intensity helps to lower blood pressure and harmful cholesterol levels, reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, aids weight loss and improves mood and a sense of well-being.

REASONS TO TRY IT Naturally taking 10,000 vigorous steps will burn more calories and increase fitness levels faster than 10,000 slow ones, but all steps are better than sitting on the couch and contribute to improved fitness. Daily steps are the foundation of day to day life, and it’s surprising how quickly they accumulate when you make small changes and walk more. Alongside daily steps Fitbit recognises that different forms of movement and exercise need to be recorded in different ways. That’s why there is a Fitbit for everybody, no matter what type of exercise each prefers.
