The works have been split into 3 geographical regions – East, West and North. There is also a separate Tower Painting Contract across all of these areas. In order to offer continuity to our client, there is a single point of contact for each of the regions. Fisher German are currently working closely with National Grid lands officers and engineers, as well as contractors and landowners to facilitate access to enable the required maintenance works to be undertaken. Fisher German are also responsible for liaising with the grantors throughout the works, responding to any issues which may arise, and negotiating any compensation claims for any disturbance caused. Due to the high volume of work being delivered over this period, it is vital that Fisher German provide regular updates to National Grid on the progress for each OHL line. Regular reports are provided to the client and monthly meetings are held with the leads from Fisher German and National Grid. It is also essential that we are able to be flexible and adapt to National Grids requirements due to the nature of the work often being quite reactive and subject to change.

Our expert GIS team can reference large areas of land using advance data processing techniques. Our lands team can complete on site referencing and compile books of reference for the scheme

Obstacles • S ome of National Grid records are out of date which has made contacting some grantors difficult – As part of this project, Fisher German are issuing grantor change forms to National Grid to help update their records as changes are identified, which should help to alleviate the issue moving forward. • Historic issues between NG and some grantors has caused some delays when arranging access, particularly where there are tight time frames to meet.

Added Value • Good communication with grantors, National Grid and their appointed contractors has minimised the amount of compensation claims submitted. • Developed good relationships with grantors throughout the works, which will make securing access for future works easier. • Our GIS team have produced all of the access plans to a high standard and subsequently provide shape files to National Grid to enable them to be used in the future.

“We are very pleased to be providing land support to National Grid during this period to enable the maintenance works to be undertaken. It is great to manage different work types across a range of geographical areas and to continue to provide an excellent level of service to our client” Molly Gaden
