Chrismon Tree

ChristmasatFirst

We warmly welcome you to our church and invite you to experience the beauty and meaning of the Chrismon Tree displayed at the front of the church during this Advent and Christmas season. The word "Chrismon" blends "Christ" and " monogram, " representing symbols unique to Jesus Christ. These sacred symbols, dating back to the early Church, were used by Christians to identify themselves and mark secret gathering places during persecution. Hung on a live, green tree symbolizing the living Christ, the Chrismons are adorned in white to reflect his purity and gold to honor his glory and majesty. Each symbol carries a deep connection to our faith and the enduring legacy of those who came before us. This Advent, we invite you to join us in celebrating Christ through this cherished and meaningful tradition.
