‘Book culture is important for development’

Mount Abu overnor Kalraj Mishra on Monday inaugurated the Govind Guru Library developed by the City Improvement Trust Abu in Abu Road. He called upon everyone to make concerted efforts to develop a book culture. On the occasion, MP Devjibhai Patel, Neeraj Dangi and MLA Abu Pindwara and Samaram Garasia were also present. The Governor reached Abu Road by road. On reaching there, public representatives and district administrative officials felicitated him. After the inauguration of the library building, the Governor observed the library facilities, reading room, etc. He also interacted with the children present there.

DGP Umesh Mishra on Monday said that the current era is of evidencebased policing and the setting up of a ‘gender unit’ at the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) will pave the way for evidence-based policing. He said that special efforts are needed to prevent crimes against women and domestic violence.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday between the Academy and the United Nations

Population Fund (UNFPA) for cooperation in setting up a ‘Gender Unit’ in the RPA.

The MoU for this initiative for women-sensi- tive and responsive policing was signed by UNFPA’s Resident Representative in India Andrea N. Wojnar and RPA Director P. Ramjee.

The Rajasthan Police took action in Bikaner under ‘Operation Vajra Prahar’ in the state. Following instructions from Bikaner IG Omprakash to demolish illegal constructions of miscreants, police in Lunkaransar, while taking major action on Monday, demolished the illegal house built by the father of history-sheeter Danaram, who had a reward of Rs 50,000.

According to police, 10 cases of attempt to murder, assault, illegal weapon recovery, etc. have been registered in different police stations against Danaram, an active member of the Rohit Godara gang. It took the administration about 3 hours to demolish house and shop.
