This collection fuses geometry, naturalism, pastel-colors, vivid colors but above all the elegance, subtlety, prestige and quality that sets us apart.

We are passionate about fine arts in home textiles.

WHO WE ARE Finera® is a Portuguese brand founded in 1989 and which is a mark of prestige and tradition with solid experience and a reference in the worldwide home textiles market.

With a heritage of 3 generations and all its market expertise for more than 30 years, Finera® is specialized in embroideries and jacquard, among other high-end home textiles products with exquisite designs, such as digital printing, in which we seek to make a difference in quality and competitiveness.

WHAT WE DO Once that our core business is based on production and commerce of home textiles articles, our main products are: • Bath (towels, bathrobes, bath mats and beach towels); • Bed linen (sheet sets, duvet covers, bedspreads); • Kitchen (cloths, napkins, tablecloths and table runners); • Bath and bed linen products for baby (hooded towels, bibs, bathrobes, blankets, etc.); • Hospitality (Hotel and Spa tailor-made solutions).

Additionally, in most of our products collections, you can select and customize details such as: the main fabric, embroidery, jacquard and several options of laces and fabric appliques, as well as digital printing.

COTTON Cotton is, perhaps, the most famous fiber in the textile world, being used either in its purest form or mixed with other raw materials.

Cotton plantations are spread across tropical and subtropical regions around the world, found mostly in India, Egypt, Africa and the American continent.

Before turning into fabric, the cotton fibers undergo cleaning and ginning, a process in which the fibers are separated from the seeds. Then, a machine cards the fibers, that is, combs them in the same direction.

After that, the fibers are stretched and twisted into long filaments, or threads, which can be treated with chemicals, dyed or combined with other types of fiber. Finally, a machine weaves the threads, transforming them into fabric.

LINEN In organic cultivation, flax is harvested by hand and pulled from the root. In this way, it is possible to use the plant along its entire length.

After harvesting, it is shredded, a process in which the seeds are separated. After this process, the vegetable undergoes tanning and maceration.

In the artisanal process, after drying, the fiber goes through the sedation process. In this stage, its fibers are selected by the craftsman, who cuts the threads with the help of needles, separating the long and short fibers. The long fibers are the linen itself, which will still go through several processes, such as spinning (transforming the fiber into yarns) and the loom (creating the fabric).

SHRINKAGE

Nearly all Finera items may be washed in water. We recommend a primary wash before using our products.

A slight shrinkage may occur in all natural fibre textiles. This will then be stabilized after the first washes.

DETERGENT

ROTATION

Always prefer neutral and biodegradable liquid detergents. Avoid detergents containing bleach and whitening properties, because these will harm the colours.

Avoid strong and long machine rotations. For cotton and linen items, use medium cycles from 400 to 600 RPM. This will make ironing easier.

SEPARATING LAUNDRY

IRONING

TEMPERATURES

Use a good quality steam iron. Iron embroidered items in-side-out. Always follow instruction on labels.

Always prefer cold or low temperature washes.

For whites, always use temperatures below 60ºC. Colours should never be washed above 40ºC.

DRYING

MACHINE WASHING

BEDDING

Unfold and gently shake each item before drying. When machine drying, choose medium temperatures and rotations.

Remove items from machine as soon as drying is concluded.

When washing delicate items and items with embroideries, always turn these items in-side-out before placing them in the machine. Remove from machine as soon as washing cycle has ended and gently shake before drying, this will prevent wrinkles.

Select washing cycle based on how much you’ve used your textiles. Some skin and hair cosmetics contain oxidants which may harm colours in textiles. Certify that these products do not come into contact with your sheets and pillowcases.

Always separate your laundry by colour and by fibre content (cotton, linen, etc.).

TIPS WHAT DOES PERCALE MEAN?

HOW TO DISCERN THE WARP FROM THE WEFT?

It is a closely woven plain-weave fabric. The finer the yarn, the lighter and softer the fabric. At Finera®, we mainly use 200TC percale, among others.

The warp refers to the yarns which run along the length of the fabric. The weft refers to the yarns which run along the width of the fabric, crossing with the warp yarns and by doing so, creating fabric.

WHAT DOES SATEEN MEAN? This is a fabric produced in a satin-weave structure, but produced with cotton yarns instead of silk. At Finera® we prefer 300TC sateen, but other TC’s are available.

WHAT IS A FABRIC STRUCTURE? The structured is comprised by the sum of threads in the warp and weft, found in the area of a square inch. TC stands for “thread count”, so a 300TC fabric will have 300 threads in a square inch.

DOES THE THREAD COUNT? The notion that “the higher the thread count, the better the fabric”, doesn’t correspond entirely to the truth. A 200TC fabric with high quality fibres will always look better and feel softer than a 500TC fabric produced with low quality yarns. A key element for a fabric’s quality is also the fabric finishing process. At Finera®, we use state-of-theart textile finishing technology, creating soft and long-lasting quality.

WHAT DOES JACQUARD MEAN? It refers to a fabric with a pattern or design which is achieved by the interlacement of the warp and weft, based on a pre-programed design for the loom. The term originates from France and it’s a homage to Joseph Marie Jacquard, the inventor of the first mechanical jacquard loom in 1801.

WHAT KIND OF DYEING WE USE? We use reactive dyestuff because these are resistant to light, heat and washing. Read more about Finera’s laundry care suggestions and learn how to treat and use your textiles.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PILLOWCASE AND A PILLOW SHAM? Frequently, the terms “pillowcase” and “pillow sham” are used interchangeably, but there’s a difference between them.

Pillowcases features: • Open at one end / side; • Usually contain a flange at the opening in one side, for a decorative finish. They may just have a folded sewn hem at the opening; • Intended to sleep on.

Pillow shams features: • The opening often has a flap on the backside.

• Most often, all four edges are finished with flange or cording.

• Typically, are more decorative, but, if made from sheeting type fabrics, can be slept on; others are only decorative accents to the bed.

There are also the euro shams, that differ from the pillow shams, only because they are squared.

Their standard sizes are 65x65cm or 80x80cm.

The boudoir sham is a single rectangular small pillow, to place centered in front of the others, with the main purpose of being decorative. Its standard size is 30x40cm.

HOW TO ARRANGE YOUR BED 1. Start by choosing the kind of bottom sheet you want (a regular bottom flat sheet to fold below the mattress; or a fitted sheet with elastic all around, to grab to it).

2. Then, you can use a top flat sheet, if you simply want to protect the duvet cover or you don’t want to sleep with it directly over you.
