Fine Line Designs Gallery in scenic Door County is housed in a 1950’s chicken coop that was renovated in 1999 and turned into the beautiful multi-level space we operate in today.

Unique, original gifts and collectable artwork are found indoors and out.

The gallery showcases monthly rotating exhibitions along with a collection by over 100 regional and national acclaimed artists.

We feature original paintings, glass, jewelry, clay, custom wood furnishings, sculpture and fiber rich in color and texture.

We also showcase a beautifully landscaped two acre sculpture garden located in front of the gallery that allows visitors to stroll and enjoy our outdoor sculptures which include pieces created out of bronze, stone, metal, copper and stainless steel.

Our artist receptions provide an opportunity for you to meet the artists and discuss their work amidst a celebratory mood complemented by food, drink and music. Please join us at these and our other special events.

2022 EXHIBIT SCHEDULE

With a focus on portraits, figurative works, semi-abstracts, and landscapes, much of Kathleen Eaton’s inspiration is drawn from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. “I paint moments in time,” she says. “Generations will view my work and see a story—and I want it to exude the joy and emotion these memories bear.”

SHERRI THOMAS Landscapes are oil painter Sherri Thomas’s greatest love. “Rarely is it difficult to find a landscape to paint; the difficulty is choosing which one,” she says. “On days when it all works, it’s an amazing feeling to capture it on canvas and preserve that segment of time.

MARTHA FIEBER Embroidery and fiber artist Martha Fieber uses her background in engineering and mechanical design to create intricate pieces she refers to as “handembroidered landscapes.” From a distance, these elaborate works look like paintings—it’s only as you get closer you realize they’re the product of a countless number of traditional stitches.

PATTY CARMODY SMITH Mixed media is the perfect fit for Patty Carmody Smith to express her artistic vision, as she loves to combine materials and techniques. “The unlimited ways to combine media and my willingness to explore keeps me excited about my work,” she says. Carmody Smith’s work is full of flavor and experimentation.

KATHIE WHEELER Kathie Wheeler’s oil paintings reflect the scenes and people in her daily life. Drawing inspiration from everywhere—especially her small farm in southwest Wisconsin— where she feels her job is to record the beauty and the visceral experience of her surroundings. When one views Wheeler’s work, one smells the earth, hears the birdsongs and experiences the emotions that only a place or person can convey. “It gives me great pleasure to share these moments in time,” she says. “I try to put the feeling I see in a place or person on the canvas — and my hope is that the viewer can take some of that.”

PAMELA MURPHY

The captivating nostalgia of oil painter Pamela Murphy’s work often seems like it’s set in another time—and that’s because partly, it is. She collects old photographs and uses them as the subjects of her paintings, presenting them on rich and textured canvases that she prepares with gesso and layers of oil paint before scraping and texturizing them. In her work, Murphy prefers snapshots to posed photos and often looks for a gesture in her subjects.

“These subjects might be forgotten, but they seem familiar to me—and my viewers,” Murphy says. “They see themselves in the paintings.”

AMID THE SILENCE: RURAL COLOR Acrylic 36”x36”

Painter Richard Patt’s childhood on a farm and the rural setting around him filled him with a “residue of images that have remained with me to this day,” he says. Working in acrylics, he paints diverse representations of barns, fields, and rolling landscapes with bright hues and gritty textures. Patt’s polychromatic landscapes are at once abstract and representational, vibrating with color,

WILLIAM MILLONIG A blend of influences—being exposed to art at a young age by his mother, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in Biology, a love for the writings of Aldo Leopold, and an avid outdoorsman father—are all at the core of oil painter William Millonig’s work.

“Painting allows me to keep a diary of my perceptions of the environments I’ve experienced,” he says.

Millonig lives and works in the heart of Wisconsin’s Kettle Moraine, using traditional techniques.

THE WAY UP Colored Pencil 26” x 26”

Colored pencil artist Allan Servoss brings viewers into his work by drawing and painting just the necessities of a particular place or a moment in time. Drawing only from his memory and his imagination, he strives to create landscapes that are “someplace but not anyplace,” allowing those who view them to be brought into a piece and create it for their own purpose.

Patty will explain how the armatures for her sculptures are made and then demonstrate the use of air-drying materials that create the surface. Air-drying materials include Creative Paperclay, Apoxie Sculpt and Clay Shay. Questions will be welcomed about particular pieces on display in the gallery.

ARTIST DEMO – KATHIE WHEELER Friday, July 8, 11am-1pm Kathie will be demonstrating an alla prima portrait done in oils from a live model.

During the demo she will discuss her process and the painters that have inspired her journey along the way.

ARTIST DEMO – ALLAN SERVOSS Friday, August 12, 11am-1pm A demonstration of the various materials and techniques used in colored pencil, similarities and differences to other popular mediums and a discussion of subject matter choice. A step by step demonstration will accompany the discussion…questions encouraged.

A juried art fair exhibiting the work of more than 75 professional artists from across the Midwest held rain or shine. Glass, pottery, metal sculpture, paintings, photography, fiber art, and woodworking will be under tents for the 5,000 people that annually attend the show.
