After enduring 29 winters in the Northeast, John came to his senses and moved home to Hawaiʻi, where he works as Director of Music & Organist at Makawao Union Church, as Executive Director of the Maui Chamber Orchestra, and serves on the faculty at UH Maui College, where he teaches piano, voice, and choir.
John also enjoys working with singers from the keyboard, as a vocal coach and collaborative pianist. In 2014, he became a Certified Yoga Teacher.
Lotus Dancer was born on Oahu (1941) when her father was a Colonel in the Army. Unforeseen events (attack on Pearl Harbor) caused a rapid evacuation when she was 6 months old, but she finally returned to Hawaii, the place of her birth, 22 years ago.
Since settling on Maui, Lotus has become actively involved as a versatile pianist performing as soloist, and collaborating with chamber music ensembles, vocalists and choral groups. She received her BA in music at the University of Colorado; MA in music from Illinois University, and has taken advanced studies at the Eastman School of Music and the Julliard-Aspen Summer School in Aspen Colorado In addition to actively performing, Lotus is a loving and dedicated teacher with over 65 years of experience both at the college level as well as in her private studio.
