Employee Emp Employee loyee Gifts Gifts & Grants Grants Committee Committee (EGG) Update Update Tudor Oaks employees graduating from high school, along with other staff members and residents, enjoyed the graduation celebration hosted on June 7th by the Lifestyle staff and the Employee Gifts and Grants committee. Donations to the EGG fund made the monetary graduation gifts possible.

ARE YOU A SAVVY TUDOR OAKS RECYCLER? These go into the TALL COVERED RECYCLING BIN: Check the bottom of the container. If you see the recycling triangle with a #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 in the center, the bottle, jug, jar or container is recyclable.

It must be clean of all traces of food, cream or detergent.

If, for example, a container of butter or vegetable oil cannot be squeeky clean even around the cover’s threads, throw it out. The food contaminates everything it touches. When clean, replace cap and place in the TALL COVERED RECYCLING BIN. Here are some NO-NO-NEVER RECYCLE these. Throw these DOWN the CHUTE: Take-out packaging from any deli (sandwich or chicken/turkey) or garden trays/pots (unless the packaging or garden pots have a triangle on the bottom), plastic utensils/cups/plates, toys, and empty bottles of motor oil or hazardous waste.

For convenience, are you carrying your recyclables all mixed together in a large plastic bag? Then tossing the whole bag into the TALL COVERED RECYCLING BIN? Since plastic bags are not recyclable, BAGGED RECYCLABLES takes time away from maintenance doing needed tasks like responding to Work Orders.

Instead, empty the contents of your large bag into the recycling bin or paper bin, then the plastic bag can be put in the Plastic Bag Bin, thrown down the CHUTE, or re-used. REMEMBER: Tudor Oaks does recycle empty, clean, soft or hard plastic bags or envelopes, plastic wrap or film and bubble wrap any size or color. But not cellophane.

Place them in the white containers marked “Plastic Bags.” They are collected regularly and taken to Walmart or Pick’n’Save.

Employee Emp Employee loyee Highlight: Highlight: Gabby Gabby Ga bby Tuchalski Tuchalski Gabby Tuchalski has been part of the Tudor Oaks Culinary Services team for seven years and was recently promoted to Supervisor.

Gabby graduated from Franklin High School in 2017 and is currently taking phlebotomy and patient care technician classes with Medcerts, spending many

hours studying and doing homework. Before coming to Tudor Oaks, she was a caregiver for two years with Visiting Angels.

Gabby’s interests include knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys watching her boyfriend and his friends play softball in her free time and babysitting for her boyfriend’s 3-month-old nephew.

Gabby’s favorite vacation has been to Mexico for her grandpa’s wedding, but she would love to travel to Sicily someday. She has a Labradoodle dog named Gaia and a bunny named Thumper. One interesting fact about Gabby is that she is the only left-handed person in her family! Stop by to congratulate Gabby in the dining room anytime and let her know if you are left-handed too!

Resident Highlight: John & Joanne Gruber John and Joanne Gruber met on a playground…but not as children! Although they are both from West Allis, and were born in the same year, they attended different schools and did not meet until they were both employed by the West Allis Recreation Department.

John and Joanne were married on February 22, 1958. They are the proud parents of three children. Their son Jeff lives in Las Vegas. Closer to home, son Jay resides in South Milwaukee. Their daughter Jodi calls Necedah home. John and Joanne also have two granddaughters. One of them is a diesel mechanic in the U.S. Navy, while the other works for Quad Graphics.

John was born in West Allis in 1935. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School before attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marquette University where he studied sociology and philosophy. He received his master’s degree in Education Administration from UW-Milwaukee.

Throughout the years, he has worked for the West Allis, Oak Creek, and Milwaukee Recreation Departments. He has also served as the coordinator of the MPS Community Education Program and has earned a spot in the Wisconsin Community Education Association Hall of Fame.

Joanne graduated from West Allis Central High School and attended Ripon College. In addition to her work at the West Allis Recreation Department,

she also taught knitting and crocheting for the Milwaukee Recreation Department and MATC. Joanne has many hobbies include sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, leather carving, and rosemaling. Joanne has even been a judge at the Wisconsin State Fair.

As a family, they have enjoyed many camping trips. They have also traveled internationally, to Scotland, Italy, Norway, and Iceland (where Joanne’s favorite yarn shop is located!) To celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, their children sent them on a trip to Hawaii.

John and Joanne have been married for 64 years. They have been living at Tudor Oaks for nine years. We are lucky that John and Joanne are part of the Tudor Oaks community!

Thanks to an anonymous donor, we have 3 white ducks in the Re昀ec琀on Pond to enjoy this summer. Please do not feed the ducks or lure them out of the water. Their wings are clipped and the water is their only protec琀on from predators. They are fed and cared for by Donny, our landscaper.
