“Seenager”

I JUST discovered my age group! I am a Seenager (senior teenager).

I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 55-60 years later. I don’t have to go to school or work. I get an allowance every month. I have my own pad. I don’t have curfew. I have a driver ’s license and my own car.

I have ID that gets me into bars and the wine store. I like the wine store best. The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant, they aren’t scared of anything, they have been blessed to live this long, why be scared? And I don’t have acne. Life is GOOD !!

Also, you will feel much more intelligent after reading this if you are a Seenager. Brains of older people are slow because they know so much. People do not decline mentally with age; it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains. Scientists believe this also makes you hard of hearing as it puts pressure on your inner ear.

Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for. It is NOT a memory problem; it is nature’s way of making older people do more exercise.

SO THERE!! I have more friends I should send this to, but right now I can’t remember their names. So please share this with yo ur friends; they may be my friends too.

T herapy Fun Facts! era y Fun

1. Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy began to thrive during World War I and World War II where the US Military began recognizing the benefit of using “reconstruction aids”. OT would use occupation as a means of treatment for wounded soldiers to return to the battlefront and PT would primarily use massage and exercise techniques.

2. Occupational therapy is ranked #10 as the best health care job by US News and World Report in 2021.

3. Occupational therapists and physical therapists are different but work closely together. Physical therapy involves focusing on movement and regaining strength after an injury. Occupational therapy focuses on increasing independence to complete daily activities.

4. Currently, 70% of Physical therapists in the U.S. are women.

If you should need any therapy services please call 414-525-6517.

On behalf of all the employees here at Tudor Oaks, we would like to say a big thank you for your kind and generous Christmas gift. We appreciate each and everyone of you!!

Employee Highlight: Abby Nelson

Abby was born in Milwaukee, WI, but she grew up in the small town of Eagle, WI. Her mom had three biological sons and then later met her dad at a telephone company they both worked at. Her parents then went on to adopt nine children, bless their hearts, so Abby has ten brothers and one sister! In Abby’s words, “It was crazy growing up in a big family, but also quite fun. I suppose you could call it beau琀ful chaos. I think the best part of having a big family and being adopted is that although we are all very di昀erent, we all have a uniqueness that we share and a sense of loyalty that brings us even closer. We are very blessed.” One of the other advantages Abby highlighted was that they had enough of them to go outside and play most sports with good sized teams, although some琀mes a few neighbor kids would join. She also men琀oned that shopping trips always made her laugh. Her family would have three shopping carts full of food on a weekly basis and her dad would by at least six gallons of milk. There was never a dull moment with this family. Abby went to school at Grace Chris琀an Academy in West Allis from K5-8th grade. Although it was a long drive from Eagle, her parents wanted her and her siblings to have that faith-昀lled founda琀on and

educa琀on. From here, Abby went on to Mukwonago High School and was part of the gradua琀ng class of 2016. Next, she went onto college earning her bachelor’s degree in Health Informa琀on Management and Technology from University of Wisconsin-Parkside, gradua琀ng in 2020. All through college, Abby kept busy and worked two jobs. The 昀rst job Abby worked was on-campus working in the oce of the registrars as a student oce assistant where she was able to perform a lot of clerical work, data entry, and talking with students. The other job she has had for nearly four years, is close to her parents’ house at LDs BBQ in East Troy, WI. Abby s琀ll works their when her schedule permits, and loves talking to the customers and serving up good BBQ! A昀er gradua琀ng from college, Abby moved to Green昀eld, WI. Her 昀rst job postschool she worked at a home medical equipment company. Shortly a昀er she started, she realized it wasn’t her passion and found her way to Tudor Oaks where she has been with the Lifestyle department for just over one year.

A few of Abby’s favorite things are pizza, the color Turquoise, the Green Bay Packers, running, dancing and traveling. She traveled with her boyfriend Jarek to Hawaii and Mexico this past year and loved it. This year Las Vegas and Mexico are on the calendar.

Residents Highlight: Lynn Zwitter

Lynn was born and raised in West Milwaukee. She grew up in an extended Austrian family with her parents, a sister, two brothers, grandparents, and an aunt. Since her parents owned Zwitter Tavern the house was also a “community house”.

After graduating from West Milwaukee High School, Lynn continued her education studying Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse where she earned a bachelor's degree. She later earned a master’s degree at the University of Northern Colorado. Upon graduation from LaCrosse, Lynn moved to Viola, Wisconsin, a small community near LaCrosse, where she began her 35-year Mathematics teaching career. Lynn taught one year at Viola High School, then taught two years at Milton High School, and 昀nished her teaching career with 32 years at Shorewood High School.

Lynn loves to travel and has been all over the world! In fact, she has visited six continents including exotic locales in Russia, China, Africa, Australia, and Europe. Lynn feels

fortunate that (as a teacher) she was able to travel extensively each summer. Teaching gave her the opportunity to take long road trips wherever she traveled. In fact, Lynn has driven in all 50 states, over 7,000 miles in Europe, and over 10,000 miles to and from Alaska!

Lynn is very creative and has many hobbies. For example, she makes stained glass art, and she helps teach a class at the West Allis Senior Center. She likes to read, and volunteers at the New Berlin Library Store where many treasures can be found. Lynn loves the Tudor Oaks library because it is “open” 24/7 and has no “due dates”. Lynn enjoys puzzles— especially jigsaw puzzles. Lynn has often placed puzzles in various locations around Tudor Oaks for others to complete! Lynn carves pumpkins for the enjoyment of others as well. You may have seen some of her intricate creations on display in the Oak Ridge Dining room here at Tudor Oaks.

Lynn has lived at Tudor Oaks in the Independent apartments for the past two years. Before moving to Tudor Oaks, she had visited friends here, and she knew that this is where she wanted to be!

Recycle your holiday Christmas LEDs

https://www.holidayleds.com/free-light-recycling

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?

Pack and send us your old Christmas lights and we'll send you a coupon good at HolidayLEDs.com. All coupons may only be redeemed once on a single order and may not be used with any other offer, discount, or coupon. Exclusions apply.

WHY RECYCLE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS?

Because we care about the environment and Christmas lights are not biodegradable, they will not decompose into the earth’s soil. They can sit in landfills for hundreds of years and pose a potential threat to animals that can get tangled in the strands. This is an easy way to do your part to look after the earth.

THE DO’S & DON’TS OF SENDING IN YOUR CHRISTMAS LIGHTS (In short- all you need to do is box up your lights in the smallest box and send them to us in the cheapest and slowest way!)

DO NOT1. Include any packing material or anything other than the lights themselves

2. Send the lights in outer packaging such as retail boxes

3.Include any apparatus used to wind up or store the lights

4.Do not put light sets in plastic bags or any other interior packaging DO 1. Use cardboard boxes or another packaging that can easily be recycled

2.Coordinate with your friends, neighbors, co -workers, social groups, church groups, or other organizations, when possible, to collect lights and send in one bulk shipment (This reduces shipping costs for everyone and reduces the environmental impact of shipping!)

3.Compact your light sets into the smallest space possible

4.Send your lights via any shipping method you like. However, there is no rea son to send them express. We would recommend to send them by the least expensive method available.

CAN I SEND CHRISTMAS LIGHTS TO YOU ANY TIME?

Yes! The Christmas Light Recycling Program is available year-round- Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall!

(If you are looking at your lights in the Fall and want to recycle the old ones, browse our Christmas string light options for some inspiration on using your coupon!)

OK- I’VE SENT IN MY LIGHTS. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

When we receive your lights for recycling, we will start by recycling the box first! The lights will then be processed, and any material that cannot be recycled (i.e., loose bulbs) is discarded. Once we have collected a substantial number of Christmas light sets, we take them to a 3rd party recycling facility that puts the lights through a commercial shredder, chopping the light into tiny pieces. Those pieces are then further processed, sorted into the various components that make up the lights (PVC, glass, copper), and transported to a region center for further processing.

LIGHTS SHOULD BE SHIPPED via USPS, FedEx, or UPS Ground to:

TO: HOLIDAY LEDS RECYCLING

W227N6225 SUSSEX ROAD, DOOR #12

SUSSEX, WI 53089

*Drop Offs are now accepted at the above location, Monday –Friday from 8-4 pm. Please drop next to the Holiday Lighting Door 12 Once you have packed up and shipped us your lights, please complete our Christmas light recycling form, and we will email you your coupon as soon as we confirm shipment! Don’t Hesitate

If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty of lives and whole towns destroyed or about to be. We are not wise, and not very often kind. And much can never be redeemed. Still, life has some possibility left. Perhaps this is its way of fighting back, that sometimes something happens better than all the riches or power in the world. It could be anything, but very likely you notice it in the instant when love begins. Anyway, that’s often the case. Anyway, whatever it is, don’t be afraid of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb.
