Note from our Execu琀ve Director Happy New Year to All !!

I am so grateful to be a part of the Tudor Oaks Family. The support and kindness from staff, residents and families is remarkable. Who would have thought that a girl who grew up in Salem, Massachusetts and wanted to be a garbage collector when she grew up would end up being the Executive Director of this amazing place? I feel blessed to be at your service and hopeful that with your help we can keep this ship on course. (I couldn’t resist) As we look forward, hopeful for health and happiness, I ask you to take a moment and look around you and really focus on what you see. I see amazing people, a beautiful campus and a welcoming warm place to live and work. We sometimes take these things for granted, and I for one don’t want to forget how fortunate I am.

Be kind to each other, be patient with each other, and let’s work together to make 2022 a terrific year!

Resident Highlight: Jim &Dorothy Burk Jim and Dorothy Burk both grew up in Milwaukee, he on the north side and she on the south side. Jim and Dorothy met in college at a fraternity/sorority mixer while a琀ending UWM and have been together over 50 years!

Dorothy is very ar琀s琀c and loves to paint, draw and create cra昀s. She also loves to sew and quilt. Although Jim also has an ar琀s琀c 昀air, he prefers woodcarving. Jim has taken a woodcarving class at UW Both Dorothy and Jim studied elementary Waukesha and enjoys crea琀ng various educa琀on while at UWM, and a昀er items using his ar琀s琀c skills! Jim was an gradua琀on became teachers. Jim taught avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and th 5 grade for many years and Dorothy 昀sh. taught kindergarten for a few years before Jim and Dorothy currently reside at the she le昀 teaching to become an execu琀ve Francis Henry Health Center Tudor Oaks so secretary at the school where she taught. they are able to enjoy meals and daily Jim and Dorothy have two children, John ac琀vi琀es together everyday! and Jennifer. John is a wildlife specialist for the Turkey Federa琀on and currently resides in Missouri. Jennifer is a CPA and lives in the Milwaukee area.

Before their kids went o昀 to college, Jim and Dorothy loved to take family trips traveling and camping throughout the United States.

Employee Spotlight Lisa Runte I grew up in a small town in northern Illinois, but I was born in Beloit, so I am a Wisconsinite by birth! I have lived in Muskego for the past 20 years with my husband and one very spoiled orange tabby named Molly. In my spare time I enjoy reading, shopping, going for walks and baking.

Most of my career has been spent working for large corporations, but a few years ago I decided that I wanted to follow my lifelong passion of working with older adults. So, I left my job with a local corporation and returned to school to earn my graduate degree in Gerontology.

While in school, I began volunteering at Tudor Oaks, and that led me to working here for the past three and one half years, initially as an Activities Assistant, and now currently as the Lifestyles Manager. In addition, I also volunteer as a Planning Committee member for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s disease (and the TO team captain) that is held each September. In fact, I am very proud to say that Tudor Oaks won the 2021 award for the Most Funds Raised by a Senior Care Team! This is yet another example of the generosity, caring and compassion that the residents, families and employees of Tudor Oaks demonstrate daily, and why I feel so privileged to be a part of our community.

My office is located in the Poplar Lifestyle room, so please feel free to stop by and say “hello”!
