News and Notes Message from the Execu琀ve Director: WOW! We are already in February. It seems like yesterday I was in a panic because it was the week before Christmas and I had yet to start my shopping. As of this wri琀ng, there are only 65 days un琀l Spring. I am not one to wish the days away, just the cold. I was never a big fan of the colder temperatures. I don’t mind the snow, unfortunately that goes hand in hand with BRRR!!

It is hard to believe that I have been in my new role almost 6 months. As the saying goes, 琀me 昀ies when you are having fun. I really love what I am doing. I love the variety, the challenges, and the opportunity to spend 琀me with residents, families, and sta昀 from all departments of Tudor Oaks. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my role as Director of Nursing. I enjoyed all 11 years I was in the posi琀on. There is something about broadening one’s horizons, taking a chance, trying something new that is refreshing. The best part for me is I got to do all those things while staying right here at Tudor Oaks. It feels like home. A Happy Valen琀ne’s Day to all, Anilisa

Resident Highlight

Grace M Grace Mongan ongan Grace’s dad said she was left in his and her mother’s stocking on St. Nicholas Day, December 6th, 1934 at home on 12th and Walker. She was raised with her 昀ve sisters and one brother by her mother, a housewife, and her father, a salesman for Jewel Tea Company. At 15 years old her Saturday chore was doing the laundry for the entire family. She would get up early at 6:00 am to ring the wash and get it all hung up either outside, down in the basement or up in the attic. Sundays after benediction she and her siblings would head to the 10 cent movies.

Grace enjoyed going to dances at the Roof Ballroom on 6th and Wisconsin Ave. every Saturday night. That is where on New Year’s Eve 1956 she met her husband, Bob, whose dancing lessons had paid o昀, making him a wonderful dancer. They would dance until the ballroom closed, move to a local bar for more music until 2:00 a.m., and next get pizza, ending the dates with 4:00 a.m. mass at St. Stanislaus Catholic church. Grace was 23 years old when she was married Bob on September 21, 1957 just 9 months after they met.

Their 昀rst home was a rental on Howell Ave. where Bob’s mother lived with them for 7 years. They bought homes on 39 th and Grange, then in the Village of Waterford, on to the

Town of Norway and 昀nally they retired in a Dickenson home in Springstead, WI on McDermott until just this past May. Grace moved into Tudor Oaks on August 6, 2021.

She is the social butter昀y in Windsor Manor, making sure everyone knows of all the activities available here at Tudor Oaks.

Grace had two daughters and three sons within her 昀rst six years of marriage. She also held down a job as a bookkeeper for 28 years at Hi-Lighter Graphics Inc. in Burlington, WI. On most Sunday afternoons the family would all head to the local parks for entertainment. She is very proud of her 昀ve children, Sue, Christopher, Paul, Joan and Pete who all get along.

Grace enjoyed sewing clothes for the children and herself including a memorable red velvet vest that she still had and o昀ered to her son. She loved knitting smaller items like mittens and scarves. She still has an afghan she started years ago that she is intending to 昀nish now that she has more time.

The family was very involved in their Catholic church. Bob and Grace were active in the church choir, helped set up for masses and were Eucharistic Ministers, taking communion to hospitals and even to an elderly woman, Evie, with whom they became very good friends. They continued visiting Evie once she moved into an assisted living facility.

Brynn Br Brynn ynn S Schmidt chmidt Hometown/schooling/currently reside: Brynn grew up in West Allis, WI attended Nathan Hale High School and the University of Whitewater. She now resides in Shorewood.

Current Position/work history: Brynn is the social worker for the rehab unit of the Francis Henry Center unit 2 since September 2021. She has been a social worker for almost 4 years.

What are your interests/hobbies?

Brynn enjoys gardening, cooking, and going to sporting events including the Packers, Bucks, and Brewers. She loves spending time and fishing at the family's lake house in Manitowish Waters Wisconsin. She collects rocks for her garden whenever she goes on a trip.

What is your dream vacation?

Brynn’s dream vacation is Colorado. It offers beautiful hiking trails through out the mountains. She would also love to visit Alaska to see the Northern Lights!!

Do you have any pets?

Brynn has two cats, Tiger, 9 years old and Stein, 8 months old. Plus six African Cichlids (fish). She occasionally watches her parents dog Remi. However, Brynn will be a Golden Retriever Lover for life!

Interesting Facts?

Brynn is a vegetarian 3 days a week and will never turn down a donut !!
