Hello and welcome to autumn! We are very fortunate to live/ work in such a beautiful area. I am so enjoying watching the colors as the leaves change. Winter is fast approaching and soon enough the snow will fly. Plans are already underway and supplies are being ordered to ensure proper snow removal and treatment to walkways to keep our residents, staff and families safe through the winter.

We are in the process of vaccinating residents and staff for influenza, and continue offering COVID vaccines on site every three weeks. We are awaiting updates on the COVID boosters and will share that information as it becomes available.

As I settle in to my new role, I hear continuous words of welcome and encouragement. I am so appreciative and feel very fortunate to have been given this opportunity in such a warm, kind environment. I look forward to getting to know more of you and working with staff, residents, and families to ensure the best possible care is provided to all.

November is the month to remind us to be thankful for the many positive things in our lives.

Resident Highlight: The Straub’s Dick and Ardyth (Ardy) Straub were born in Milwaukee. They both went to Pulaski High school where they met each other and started dating. After six years, they married in 1961. They have two children and two grandchildren.

When her first child was born she ended an eight year employment at Heil as executive secretary to the CFO. She stayed at home with the children until they graduated. After that, she worked as church secretary and as a Mary Kay beauty consultant.

Dick graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelors Degree in Structural and Civic Engineering.

As a registered Engineer he began his career designing bridges and retaining wall structures in the Marquette interchange. This included the Hoan bridge over the Milwaukee river.

Dick went on to manage the design and construction of medical office buildings throughout the United States. As a senior project manager, he continued working for S.C. Johnson in Racine. After retirement he started a company engaging in construction consulting and custom home building. Ardy also worked After high school graduation there as an office administrator for Ardy went on to work at the Heil Co. 10 years. as a stenographer.

Some of Ardy’s hobbies include reading, gardening, needlework, and cooking. Dick’s hobbies include trading in the stock market, traveling, fishing, and woodworking. They like to go to church and spend time with family. They have now been living at

Employee Spotlight Pa琀y Schmitz (Pa琀y Cures) Pa琀y, our nail technician, lives in Green昀eld and has been working at Tudor Oaks for almost 昀ve years. She heard of Tudor Oaks through the Collar family since she is friends with their daughter. She enjoys travelling, especially to Europe, and staying ac琀ve, which includes CrossFit classes and biking. She has a second job working at the VA as a pharmacy tech for 25 years. She does not have children or a husband but has 昀ve sisters who keep her busy. She says she loves coming to Tudor Oaks and enjoys the company of the residents and the wisdom they have to o昀er.

Linda Takach Linda grew up in Milwaukee and a琀ended Hamilton high school. She graduated in 1975 and went on to become a CNA at the age of 18. She has been working at Tudor Oaks for 7 years as a CNA in the Frances Henry Health Center. Linda enjoys gardening and going to Packer games. Her dream vaca琀on would be a trip to Jamaica where she could soak up the sun. One of her good family memories is going 昀shing with her dad. He taught her how to drive every 琀me they went 昀shing. Linda also donates pumpkins yearly to the residents in the Health Center which is very appreciated.

Elder Benefits Specialist & Medicare SHIP Counselor Dawn Hendrix from the Waukesha County Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) will be providing one on one benefit guidance services on the dates provided below.

She will be here the 2nd Tuesday of every month between 1pm-3pm. Please sign up in the Library to reserve your timeslot.

Advent Bible Study November 29, December 6, 13, 20 at 10:30am in the OWT Please join us for a four week Advent Bible study session. The study will be based on the book & video by Adam Hamilton entitled “Incarnation: Rediscovering the Significance of Christmas”. His parents called him Jesus. But the prophets, shepherds, wise men, and angels addressed him by other names---including Messiah, Savior, and Emmanuel. Join Hamilton as he explores the meaning behind these titles, what they tell us about the baby whose birth we celebrate at Christmas, and the significance of that Christ child for our lives today.

The four sessions are:

My name is Xia. I work in the Lifestyles department and I am the editor for the Acorn. I started working here when I was 15 years old as a server in the dining room. Now it is almost four years later . I currently go to school at UW-Milwaukee and I am majoring in Environmental and Freshwater Science.

Sadly, I am leaving Tudor Oaks but will still continue to volunteer and edit the Acorn.

Dear Tudor Oaks Friends, Your prayers and cards, your kind thoughts and even kinder actions, have all helped to comfort and strengthen us through a truly desolate time this fall.

In the profoundest of ways our son's death was a sign of God's final healing and, while we did not want to lose Jay to this world, we welcomed God's calling him home to eternal peace.

Truly, he is at rest.

Your sharing of our sorrow through all the kind things you did along the way warmed our hearts and helped us to see how God was always with Jay and his entire family.
