16 Macphail Crescent
Saxilby | Lincoln | Lincolnshire | LN1 2WL
Having viewed houses all around the village, we opted for our house because we fell in love with the plot and generous room sizes. It’s the last one on the crescent which means that there is no passing traffic and it feels like you are in your own little world once you come down the private driveway.”
“The house was built about 20 years ago but we have meticulously renovated it to the highest standard with no expense spared, with a view to staying here forever. The layout of the house now flows really well and has worked perfectly for us as a family, with the top floor being a particularly flexible area. The entire floor could make a fabulous master suite, however, we have used the smaller bedroom as our office; guests could have their own space completely with the largest room having space for a seating area as well as a king size bed, or in our case, it has provided a sort of ‘self-contained’ apartment area for my 18 year old son, which he has loved.”
“The work involved in the renovation included adding the garden room extension at the back, replacing all the windows and doors, fitting a new kitchen and all new bathrooms, laying new carpets and decorating throughout. We also landscaped the garden laying the patio and the decked area to create an ideal place for entertaining.”
“The newly added garden room provides a beautiful space where the views over the fields are amazing in the winter and in the summer we use any opportunity that we can to have the bi-folds open, which provides a great space for family and friends to make use of both the indoors and outdoors. The doors open the full width of the room, which really frames the newly landscaped garden.”
“On a sunny day we love to lay picnic blankets on the grass so that the children can play, whilst the adults sit on the decking and make use of the garden bar which is inside the summerhouse. When the evening draws in, we switch on the surrounding ambient lighting, which also shines up into the trees, providing the perfect space and atmosphere to relax. The heater under the covered area means it can be used all year round.”
“The back garden is really private and secluded with a backdrop of trees; it’s very quiet here as we’re really tucked away and any roads are all cul de sacs. Beyond our front garden, also bordered by trees, there is a green which is a great place for dogs to run around or children to kick a ball about.”
“The location is perfect if you want tranquil living (including having great neighbours) but proximity to good schools, sports facilities and other amenities, as well as being close to the city if you need it. In 10 or 12 minutes you can be in the Bailgate, or closer by, there is the David Lloyd gym and tennis at Burton Waters.”
“Saxilby has a lot to offer with its schools, two pubs, takeaways and a fish and chip shop, supermarkets and many different sports clubs and facilities, as well as its train station.”
