SELLER INSIGHT Originally two cottages over 250 years old, it is believed to have been built for farmworkers. You wouldn’t think we were in a terrace as we never hear our neighbours, probably as the walls are so thick. We love some of the original features like the wide floorboards in the two front bedrooms, which always feel warm to walk on and all the ceiling beams are original - it has so much character.” “We have loved living here so much it has really set a high benchmark for finding another home in this area! As it is in an elevated position we can see over the valley from the upstairs back windows, especially before the trees are in full leaf, and we have wonderful sunsets in that direction. In the morning, at the front we have beautiful light flooding in.” “We came here almost 8 years ago and have done quite a bit on the property. It was rather dark at the back with little windows, so about 5 years ago we added the single storey extension which has been a great success transforming the downstairs space. We fitted a suspended solid oak floor which is so comfortable underfoot, whilst we laid engineered oak in the front room. It has worked well for us with young children, to have the dining area at the front but it could easily be swapped round so the sitting room benefits the log-burner.” “The central heating system was upgraded about 7 years ago along with carrying out some damp proofing; the kitchen was new 3 or 4 years ago incorporating a slimline dishwasher, a fridge, an electric oven and a gas hob. The brick outbuilding at the back houses our big freezer, our washing machine and tumble dryer and there’s a Belfast sink out there and a toilet which is brilliant when we, or the children, are outside. There’s also a separate storeroom which has been great for all our bikes and garden tools.” “The entrance to the cottage, you expect to take you straight into the house but in fact it opens into a covered side passage that leads to a quaint cottage door into the side of the house. This space is very handy and the dog finds it lovely and cool in the summer!” “The garden is a wonderful sanctuary – it is private and secure with walls most of the way round; there’s always a sunny spot to sit in and having the French doors from the house is perfect in the summer. Everything seems to grow so well here; the raspberries love it so the children have reaped the benefit! There’s a patio at the end as well as close to the house and the far corner is particularly tucked away - we used to have a sofa out there for lying in the sun. It’s so quiet except for the sound of birds.” “The village is lovely and the school is small but perfectly formed! My son will stay at this school wherever we move to. The village itself is a tight-knit community and so welcoming – we had so many cards through the door when we first came here – and there’s always something going on. The Tempest is also a very friendly place, an amazing community pub with fabulous views from its garden. The Viking Way has to be mentioned as you can walk for miles with breath-taking views over the landscape; we often walk to Navenby which is 2 miles away. There are many amenities there which is really handy, and of course Lincoln is only about a 15 minute drive to the centre.”*
