Amber Valley Borough Council have granted under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 for the permission of a proposed conversion of agricultural buildings to form three dwellings at Highfields Farm, Highfields Lane, Mugginton. The current proposal offers a wide spectrum of accommodation to include: Cloakroom, Utility room, Boot room, Living Kitchen, Sitting room, minimum of three bedrooms (some with en-suites) and family bathroom. This is a popular Derbyshire village offering a church dating back to the Doomsday Book. In the churchyard to All Saint’s visitors can see a hollow yew tree which is thought to be over 1,000 years old. There is much in the church to interest visitors with parts dating to the 11th century. The village flourished from a tiny settlement to a village under the ownership of Henry de Ferrers, by the time of Doomsday it had both a church and a mill. Also, of interest is Halter Devil’s Chapel, a small chapel built into the side of a house about which a number of local legends exist.
