SELLER INSIGHT

My wife saw a photo of the staircase in a brochure by John D. Wood and it caught our eye, so we came along for a look at the property and found something quite unique. If you’re looking for a period property, then I’m positive that you won’t find another like this,” says the owner.

“The location was also a big part of the appeal as we’re not too far away from everything we need. It’s just a 10-minute walk to the centre of Epsom where there is a wide range of shops and restaurants, including Japanese and Korean cuisine. The renowned Dastaan Indian Restaurant that is simply the best place in the country to go for a curry is a ten minute drive to west Ewell. Many of the top chefs in London are frequent visitors to the restaurant which is a high compliment indeed. We’re close to the racecourse and the RAC club with two golf courses, so this is the sort of place where you can easily find everything that you really want.”

“The walled garden is the place to be on long summer days and evenings. It’s sheltered and warm, so it’s the perfect spot to relax or host a BBQ with friends and family. Predominantly laid to stone with pathways and pots filled with pretty flowers, it doesn’t take a lot to maintain, so there’s plenty of time to sit by the small water fountain and listen to the sound of trickling water. The 400-year-old yew tree is a wonderful feature that attracts all kinds of birds, including little robins and blackbirds. We’re set well back from the road and large hedges shield the traffic noise, so it’s a nice, quiet space to enjoy.”

“We’ve hosted some very nice lunch and dinner parties in the conservatory where we can accommodate up to 10 guests around the table. It sits within the garden, so it brings the outside in, and best of all, we can enjoy the views no matter what the weather! The double height hallway features that wonderful staircase that so enchanted us initially and we have painted the ceiling with an interesting blue sky and white clouds scene that we think is completely charming. The property is full of unique features, including magnificent doors and huge windows that flood the rooms with natural light.”*
