Local Area Being some ten miles north east of Cambridge and only five miles from the historic town of Ely the village offers excellent commuter access into the city centre and for those wishing to travel into London, Ely train station offers a direct service into Londons King Cross. The village’s has its own public house, The Maids Head which is well supported and has occupied the same site since the 15th Centenary. Having been destroyed by a fire in 1983 the pub was rebuilt to its original design. Wicken even gets a mention in the Domesday Book of 1086 and some Bronze Age weapons and some Roman coinage have also been found in the parish.
