Petwood is a large, elegant and superbly arranged family home offering light and airy rooms of fine proportions and a warm and inviting atmosphere. Built around 1982 and carefully developed in recent years the spacious interiors provide outstanding and flexible space for the growing or larger family, for working from home and particularly for entertaining on a small or grand scale. The fine reception rooms are arranged off an impressive hall with a honey-tone herringbone oak block floor. There is a classic lounge with focal woodburner, a sitting room with further feature fireplace and fire and also a generous study or snug. The kitchen is classic “country home to a Rayburn, Belfast sink and oak units under granite. There is also a good dining room and an all-year-round conservatory. Arranged over first and second floors are 6 excellent double bedrooms, the principal with luxury ensuite. There is an immaculate family bathroom. The accommodation is completed by two cloakrooms and a utility.

My favourite room is the lounge that we used as the children’s play area. It’s modern, light and airy with the windows on two sides. As a mum, I loved to spend time in here with the children and it was always full of photos and the children’s artwork. It was also useful when we had parties and the children could play in here whilst the adults were in the more formal lounge.”

Seller Insight Initially we were attracted by the location of the house,” says Sue. “We’re a 10-minute walk from the middle of the countryside and a 10-minute drive from the towns of Stourbridge and Kidderminster. We’ve lived in the property for 24 years and brought our four children up here. We’re well situated for the catchment areas of the local schools and the train stations are close by for easy access to the private schools which are a 25-minute journey away. Over the years, we’ve made some changes to the property including the creation of the large kitchen diner. It’s a big, spacious room which is light and airy and overlooks the garden. The loft conversion created an additional two bedrooms and we knocked the original garage down and built a new one with a games room over. The children spent a lot of time in here and they’ve had many friends over to play on the pool table, football table and dart board! The kitchen diner and conservatory lead on to the patio and the garden which is split into two areas. At the bottom is the wooded area where the children loved to build tree houses and swings and the swimming pool is at the top of the garden. It’s heated with a glass cover overhead protecting the pool from tree debris and can be used all year round. We often see the eagles, falcons and snowy owls fly overhead from the nearby Falconry centre. On our doorstep are the magnificent Clent Hills which provide wonderful walking , cycling and riding scenery. From the ridge you can enjoy glorious views of the Clee and Malvern Hills. Hagley Hall is a 15-minute walk away and the big stately home is host to Christmas fairs and carols. There’s always lots of events including the annual car fair and it’s a beautiful walk around the grounds. We’re close to some lovely garden centres and farm shops which sell local produce including bread and pickles.” “I love that we’re surrounded by the trees and plants in the garden that change with the season. The big clematis is in full bloom right now and the cherry blossom lasted for over one month. There’s lots of blue in the garden thanks to the forget-me-nots and it’s lovely in the winter time with the mix of the bare branches, conker trees and the evergreen, big spruce trees.” “We will miss the space. We’re downsizing and moving to stay in our holiday home in Devon. It will be a big wrench to leave and if I could pick the house and garden up and take it with me, then I definitely would! It’s a lovely place to live with everything you need within easy reach, yet at the same time, it feels like you’re away from it all. It’s been a fun filled house and I’d love for a nice, young family to move in to appreciate all that it has to offer.”*
