I built the property in 2010 and have lived in it ever since and it’s been a really fabulous place to call home.” “Externally the house has been designed very much in keeping with the vernacular architecture, so it fits beautifully within its surroundings, but I also wanted to create a house that would be ideal for modern living and one that would take full advantage of the spectacular setting. The layout is quite traditional, but each of the rooms is generously proportioned, so there’s a fantastic feeling of space throughout, and almost every room takes in a really lovely view. It’s a spacious, light, bright and very comfortable family home.” “The garden is lovely, and because of the position of the house it’s also very peaceful and private,” continues Roger. “I’ve created a secluded decked area just outside the main living room, which is a lovely place to sit out and relax or entertain, and then the rest is laid to lawn. The garden wraps around the property and I’ve deliberately kept the boundary low so from every inch you can enjoy those breathtaking views.” “My favourite room is probably the main living room,” says Roger. “It has a huge stone fireplace, which is not only a lovely focal point but also creates a cosy atmosphere in winter, and bi-fold doors connect the space to the decked terrace beyond.” “The location is peaceful and incredibly picturesque,” says Roger. “I can stroll down to the beach, which is beautiful all year round; the nearby hotel is a lovely place to visit for a drink or a bite to eat, and there are plenty of lovely little villages that cater for day-to-day needs.” As well an integral garage, the property also has plenty of parking, so it’s ideal for visiting family and friends. “This is a really lovely family home, but it’s the location that sets it apart,” says Roger. “I’m only moving round the corner, but my new property doesn’t have such fabulous views, so they are what I’ll miss most when I leave.”
