SELLER INSIGHT

We were initially drawn to this property for its position in a large, wide plot on a quiet no through road,” say the current owners. “We loved the look of the pretty detached bungalow and could see right away that it had huge potential. In fact, we offered full asking price just driving by and not seeing the inside. The agent was inside valuing it at the time and gave us a heads up, but we had already fallen in love just from the outside. Our offer was accepted there and then and the house never hit the market officially. The rest is history.”

Since moving in, the owners have made various improvements to the property. “As well as basics such as brand new windows, an updated bathroom and fully certified electrics, we fitted a state of the art kitchen,” the owners say. “We waited many years to do this kitchen and put a lot of love and thought into its look - it is our piece of luxury. Another addition was a log burner for cosy winter nights, and an office/gym/garden room complete with WC.”

“We just adore this house,” the owners continue. “It has a lovely feel to it, full memories of bringing up our children here. The property is ideal for everyday family life and entertaining alike, and we have hosted many parties here, from Christmas dinners for 20 guests in the garden room and New Year’s Eve celebrations, to summer barbecues outside on the patio.”

Outside, much love and care has been put into the garden, too. “We adore gardening and have landscaped extensively,” say the owners. “It has been such a joy to watch all that we have grown from seed maturing over the years. The garden is a good size and wraps around the house on all sides. The decking is in full sun for 90% of the day, providing an excellent sunbathing area. We have a beautiful arbor with yellow roses and tracklaspernam which smells amazing when in flower. There is also a wooden whalebone arch and many places to sit and contemplate life.”

The local area also has much to recommend it, offering the best of both beauty and convenience. “The local walks are amazing,” say the owners, “whether on beautiful St Anne’s Hill or in the Meads with the dogs. There are excellent local schools, nice shops and convenience stores just minutes’ walk away. All road and rail links are super convenient, with trains to London just a 10 minute walk away and easy access to motorway networks nearby.”

“The house and garden lend themselves wonderfully to parties: we have entertained 20 Christmas dinner guests in the garden room!”*
