Uno dei modelli Aston Martin più iconici, la DB4 G.T., è stata celebrata nel 2017 con una serie speciale di 25 vetture Continuation, da pista, costruite con specifiche lightweight da Aston Martin Works a Newport Pagnell. Fedele al design delle otto lightweight originali, ognuna è stata costruita impiegando una miscela di artigianato del vecchio mondo e tecniche moderne; beneficiano di miglioramenti nelle prestazioni, mantenendo la sensazione e il carattere originali. A sottolineare questa autenticità, i numeri VIN proseguono dall’ultima DB4 G.T. originale. Potente: il sei cilindri twin-spark è capace di 340 hp attraverso un differenziale autobloccante. Agile, grazie al passo accorciato. Leggera: la carrozzeria, come l’originale, è in sottili pannelli di alluminio su telaio tubolare (metodo Touring Superleggera). Questo esemplare è il terzo dei 25 prodotti. Solo il colore (argento in questo caso) e la livrea erano a discrezione dell’acquirente; tutti gli esemplari sono full-optional e dotati di dispositivi corsa omologati FIA, come i sedili sportivi e il roll bar a gabbia. Nuova, ha solo 18 km percorsi.

One of Aston Martin’s most iconic models, the DB4 G.T., was celebrated in 2017 with a special run of 25 Continuation, trackready cars built to lightweight specification by Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell. True to the design of the original eight lightweights, each was built using a blend of old-world craftsmanship and modern techniques; they benefit from improvements in performance, while maintaining the original feel and character. To underline this authenticity, the VIN numbers carry on from the latest DB4 G.T. original. Powerful: The twin-spark six-cylinder is capable of 340 hp through a limited-slip differential. Nimble, thanks to the shortened wheelbase. Lightweight: the bodywork, like the original, is in thin aluminum panels on a tubular frame (Touring Superleggera method). This specimen is the third of 25 produced. Only the color (silver in this case) and livery were at the buyer’s discretion; all specimens are full-optional and equipped with FIA-approved racing devices, such as the sports seats and the roll cage. New, only 18 km travelled.

La DB 4 fu un importante passo avanti rispetto al modello Mark III; fu la prima Aston Martin ad essere assemblata nei nuovi stabilimenti di Newport Pagnell e le prestazioni, grazie al motore curato da Tadek Mareck, erano notevoli. One of Aston Martin’s most iconic models – the DB4 G.T. – has been celebrated in 2017 with a special series of 25 track-only Continuation cars built to lightweight specification by Aston Martin Works at Newport Pagnell. The DB 4 was a major step up from the Mark III model; it was the first Aston Martin to be assembled in the new Newport Pagnell factories and the performances, thanks to the engine edited by Tadek Mareck, were remarkable. Introduced in 1959, the same year Aston Martin scored its outright win in the Le Mans 24 Hours and a year after the model’s launch, the G.T. version was offered for competitions. Compared to the road version, it was significantly lighter, and the engine went from 240 to over 300 hp: it was a true supercar of its day. Shorter, lighter, sleeker and with a more powerful version of the legendary 3.7-litre straight-six engine, not only was the DB4 G.T. Britain’s fastest passenger sports car, but it was also a born winner, scoring a debut race victory at Silverstone in the hands of Sir Stirling Moss.

Al cuore, c’è una versione del motore sei cilindri in linea twin-spark progettato da Tadek Marek, capace di 340 hp attraverso una trasmissione manuale a quattro velocità e differenziale autobloccante, proprio come nell’originale. A causa del passo accorciato, la DB4 G.T. ha due posti secchi e beneficia di una maggiore agilità rispetto alla normale quattro posti. La sua carrozzeria segue la costruzione originale, con pannelli di alluminio di spessore sottile montati su un telaio tubolare (metodo Touring Superleggera). Per migliorare la precisione e l’uniformità dei pannelli, la carrozzeria della Continuation utilizza una tecnologia digitale all’avanguardia, prima di essere rifinita a mano secondo un’antica tradizione. A total of 75 DB4 G.T.s were built between 1959 and 1963. Of these only eight were lightweight models, most of which survive today. Faithful to the design of those original eight factory lightweights, each DB4 G.T. Continuation has been built employing a blend of old-world craftsmanship and modern techniques; Continuation cars benefit from improvements in engine performance, handling, braking and safety, with great care taken in retaining original’s feel and character. Underlining that authenticity are the continuation car VIN numbers, which carry on from the last original DB4 G.T. ordered - Chassis 0202R - for an unbroken bloodline. At its heart is a version of the Tadek Marek-designed twin-spark, straight-six cylinder engine, capable of 340bhp through a four-speed manual transmission and limited-slip, just as in the original. Thanks to its shortened wheelbase, the DB4 G.T. is a strict two-seater and benefits of a greater agility than the regular four-seater. Its body follows the original construction, with thin-gauge aluminum panels fitted over a tubular frame (Touring Superleggera patent). To improve the accuracy and consistency of the panels, the Continuation car’s bodywork uses state-of-the-art digital technology, before being handfinished in time-honoured tradition. Paul Spires, Commercial Director, Aston Martin Works said of the DB4 G.T. Continuation programme: “For over 60 years Aston Martin Works has devoted unrivalled skill and experience to preserving Aston Martin’s heritage. Now we are creating something for the future, with a special series of 25 Continuation cars that celebrate one of Aston Martin’s greatest cars - the DB4 G.T. Lightweight. Built in our refurbished, state-of-the-art facilities in Newport Pagnell, the DB4 G.T. Continuation (…) marks the return of production to the historic home of Aston Martin (…) The result is a truly remarkable machine.
