Dear Friends,
When a child or teen joins a family through foster, kinship, or adoption, the complex path to healing begins. This is when a family needs a trusted gathering place to find ongoing education, friendship, and practical help. The journey of becoming a family in this special way is full of twists and turns. It is not for the faint of heart, yet even the strongest among us cannot do it alone. We all need help.
In this magazine you will find multiple ways to connect with Finally Home. Whether through an online training, an in-person conference, or take-home resource, we pray you will discover that you are not alone on this journey!
If you are an agency or ministry leader, you can help families endure through the hard times and celebrate in the good times. Health and success are contagious in a community based on faith in God, hope, common experiences, and the values of learning and growing. Let us equip you to serve the families in your sphere of influence. There is no greater privilege than to say to a child who has been uprooted time and time again, “You’re finally home.”
Gratefully, Kristin Orphan, MS, CFLE Co-Founder/Creative Director

Map for Healthy Families
This foundational course sets the path to create a healthy home. The map will help you put in motion actions that will support you as the caregiver(s) and the children in your home. Lessons include:
• The Two Jobs of Every Person
• Three Patterns
• Three Skills
• Relationship Styles
• BONUS: Taking Care of Yourself
Parents as Leaders in Healthy Families
All families have their own ways of doing things, or “rules,” that define how family members work together. These informal rules explain how people talk to each other, how they get along, and who does what in a family. The rules are often passed down from one generation to another. Sometimes family members say these rules to each other, and sometimes they do not. But who defines the rules of how the family will live together? Research shows that in a healthy family, the adults are in charge. The first job of parents is how to be healthy leaders. Lessons include:
• Making Rules Part 1
• Making Rules Part 2
• Stick Together
• Stay in Charge
9
Adults and Healthy Families
Here we look at two jobs that help to strengthen marriage relationships: “Be a Team” and “Build Your Team.” You are a team when you commit to each other and to your relationship and when you find ways to deepen intimacy and stay connected. You build your team when you know what you want and say what you want to give yourselves the best chance of getting what you (both) want. Lessons include:
• Be a Team: Commit
• Be a Team: Connect
• Build Your Team: Know What You Want and Say What You Want
• Build Your Team: Get What You Want
Parents as Models in Healthy Families
This course focuses on some of the fun parts of parenting: spending time with your kids, playing, encouraging, and talking together. Parents, like it or not, you are a role model for your children. Children learn by copying what they see other people do, and they are most influenced by the people who spend the most time with them. They learn about themselves and how to treat others through the way they are treated by the adults who raise them. Lessons include:
• Plan Time With Your Children
• Encourage Your Child
• Listen to Your Child
• Talk Together With Your Child

SuperHero Academy
Serving Infants through 5th Grade
SuperHeroes Bounce Back is an interactive strengths-based program that teaches children the traits of resiliency. Each session focuses on one of Finally Home’s adorable SuperHero characters and their associated resiliency trait. Trained volunteers guide children through engaging SuperHero-themed crafts, activities, music, and small group discussions.
“You should see our three kids hugging the SuperHero pillows they made at the last Finally Home event! They take them everywhere.”
-Grace and Josiah, Finally Home Foster-Adoptive Parents

Solid Rock Students
Serving middle school and high school students
Solid Rock Students is a three-part program. At each event, students participate in a service project, life skills lesson, and fun outing. Whether the focus is kindness, communication, mental health, or self-esteem, students play games and have themed small group discussions on topics that encourage strong character and resilience. Most service projects give students an immediate application for what they have just learned. Outings include experiences like rock climbing, sports games, equine assisted therapy, ropes courses, hikes, cooking classes, and more.

Need Additional Support?
Sometimes there are situations that require more support than we can offer through our courses and programs. Sometimes the needs of individuals in the family require a professional therapist or psychiatrist.
We
Get it:
• Someone in your home needs support, but therapy costs are high.
• Therapy isn’t a luxury for you…it’s a need!
• Finding the right therapist is tricky and often who you need isn’t in your health insurance network.
Finally Home’s Revive and Thrive Family Support Initiative
All members of foster, adoptive, and kinship households are eligible to apply for support through Finally Home’s Revive and Thrive Family Support initiative…including YOU, the Caregiver.
