The Many Stars of Filipino Academy: Univerkada, The Juans, Franseth

The Filipino Academy welcomed a long list of stars in 2024 This star-studded list includes Univerkada: Jerome Ponce, Krissha Viaje, Hyacinth Callado, Gab Lagman, Jairus Aquino, and Aaliyah Tuazon; the electric boy band “The Juans” , and the popular loveteam “Franseth” of Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin

The real stars however are the Overseas Filipino Workers persevering for a better future Our Pinoy celebrities bring a smile to their faces and a little slice of home reminding everyone that wherever we are as long as we have a piece of the Philippines with us we are home

UAE and Philippines continue to strengthen ties in 2024

The Philippines and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) eye stronger bilateral relations His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’ s Minister of Foreign Affairs, gave a courtesy call to the Philippines President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during his visit last November 26, 2024 The Emirati royalty expressed his government’ s intent “to do more trade” in Manila and strengthen foreign relations

“Our relationship is growing, but not enough We could do much better It could be much better because I think we have an interest to further enhance it But also the Philippines has shown that it’ s been welcoming investors, we would like to do more trade, and to finalize and sit down with the Philippines, ” Sheikh Abdullah said to the President

Sheikh Abdullah also expressed gratitude and appreciation to the large population of migrant Filipino workers in the UAE As of writing, data from the Department of Foreign Affairs showed there are around 900,000 Filipinos in the UAE as of November 2024 Meanwhile, Marcos acknowledged the “close relationship” between the Philippines and the UAE. The President also took the time to thank the Arab country’ s fervent support to overseas Filipino workers

“We extend that relationship further and make it deeper And I hope that we are able to reciprocate somehow because we are very grateful for the assistance that you have done in terms of the crisis (that we face here) in the Philippines and then, especially to our Filipino nationals who are working in the Emirates, ” he said

The UAE has shown its support to the Filipinos who have shaped the country into what it is today On numerous occasions it has featured the Philippine flag on the Burj Khalifa, the world’ s tallest building More recently, the UAE donated food and supplies to Filipinos affected by typhoon Carina and intense weather conditions caused by the southwest monsoons

These gestures show the UAE and the Philippines' strong relationship and the valuable impact of the policies of their respective governments toward their people.

The academy prides itself on presenting our students with an opportunity to start anew The global pandemic of 2020 introduced a new dynamic to the UAE and reminded everyone that life is precious One industry elevated its status as an always-in-demand career healthcare That is the story of Ms Barba, who found her new calling through Filipino Academy’ s Healthcare Services program

“Napili ko po ang kurso na ito way back 2021 That time [there} was COVID-19 virus Noong time na iyon nagsarado yung company na pinapasukan ko Noong time na iyon, yung healthcare indemand siya. Healthcare service helps me a lot by means of grabbing [more] knowledge by doing healthcare work, ” she said

“Thank you po sa panginoon, at sa Filipino Academy kasi nakatulong talaga siya sa akin para maenhance ko ang knowledge ko sa medical field ”

Joanna Marie Acosta

Ms Acosta's triumphant success is a story worthy of recognition She started humbly as a linen attendant in 2016 in the UAE She proved herself and after two years she was promoted to the role of on-call room cleaner

With the help of her employer, Marko Cipolat of Desert Barbell, she enrolled in Filipino Academy and earned her certificate in Business Management Her employers saw her great determination after graduating and she was promoted to her new role as the new manager:

“Yung biggest impact sa akin is yung kurso ‘kong Business Management Sa paggawa ng business plans, although I am not a business woman, so double research talaga ako noon [Also,] nagkaroon ako ng idea kasi I’ m planning to have my own business one day, ” said Miss Acosta

She furthered added, “Ang dami ko natutunan, especially with Miss Kaye, napaka-excellenet niya magturo about marketing strategy, financial status, [and how to communicate with people, your staff and colleague] So parang maapply ko sa pagiging manager ko yun

Sa mga nagpaplano mag-aral sa Filipino Academy, go! Don’t waste your opportunity to study kasi diyan maguumpisa ang career mo or yung buhay mo Sa pipiliin mong course make sure na magagamit mo yun [Do your best with what you have ]”
