By asking this, we begin to understand more, discover different perspectives, and forge meaningful relationships that help develop a better solution to every challenge we face. As always, we’re looking for purpose behind everything we do. Winter brings us many opportunities to ask and answer why. The holidays are full of ways to find purpose and serve others. When it comes to selecting the perfect gift for a loved one, find a gift that is unique and is also supporting a local entrepreneur and our local economy. Why did my son buy me gloves from Festoon last year? Because one evening he saw me try and warm my hands in my coat and he remembered. He went to Kathy, told her what he wanted and why. These aren’t just any normal gloves; they’re a reminder that my son thinks of me. They don’t just warm my hands. They warm my heart. In Lancaster, we have a multitude of opportunitites to serve others though our local non-profit organizations who work tirelessly to make our community better.
This time of year reminds us that we’re all in this together and we need one another. A heart of service, above all else, is paramount. See our Giving Back Guide in this issue for just a few causes we care about. For whatever reason you give this season, start to ask yourself why. It may change your perspective. It may change the way you give of yourself and ultimately, your relationships with others may change in the process.
