Aromas of nuts, brioche and golden apples. Very pleasant with citrus and floral notes, evolving to buttery and brioche notes with age. Perfect as an apertif served with canapés.

Pale gold in colour with fine bubbles and a delicate, persistent mousse. Fine aromas of citrus peel and orchard fruits, with a hint of vanilla and cinnamon spice. The palate is full but very well rounded.

Christmas Wine & Food Pairing Christmas lunch is notoriously tricky to match wine with due to all the different trimmings.

You have to balance your choice of meat with assorted sides; crunchy roast potatoes, buttery carrots, sweet/tangy cranberry sauce, everyone’s favourite Brussels sprouts, the best stuffing and a rich gravy.

Christmas Wine & Food Pairing Christmas pudding is very rich, sweet and full of dried fruit. What to serve with it is a contentious issue in the Fawcett family, Cathryn opts for a Rum Sauce whereas Brandy Butter is the only option for Peter. It’s even trickier to decide what to drink with it.

Cheese before or after pudding? The classic pairings include Roquefort and Sauternes, Port and Stilton, Goats Cheese and Sauvignon Blanc.

However, it is unfeasible to have so many different wines on the go so how about a Tawny Port or a Amontillado Sherry.
