Fidel Tukel : The Basic Elements of Boxing Management

Fidel Tukel has worked in and around the world of professional boxing for many years, and in many different capacities. An experienced boxing gym owner, promoter, manager and trainer, Fidel Tukel has obtained years of firsthand experience not only of the sport, but working face-toface with the athletes themselves; talented fighters who, in many cases, have gone on to do great things at the highest levels of competition.

An experienced boxing professional, Fidel Tukel understands just how important the role of boxing manager is to the success, strength and overall health of the athlete. A boxing manager is relied upon by the boxer in multiple capacities, including that of confidant, mentor and close advisor.

A lot goes into the boxer-manager relationship, and the manager is often heavily involved in nearly every aspect or facet of the boxer’s career. Among the responsibilities typically shouldered by the boxing manager include:

--Hiring a trainer. Generally, the manager is responsible for hiring the right trainer, the individual charged with providing the boxer the best strength conditioning, training and dietary advice possible.

--Scouting opponents. Managers typically attend boxing matches and watch videos of other fighters to determine which opponents they best match up with, and which provide a good opportunity to victory.

--Bout negotiations. A manager will typically negotiate the terms of future matches on behalf of the fighter.
