Two injured after bakkie overturns in Ficksburg Two men have been injured after their bakkie overturned on the R26 near Ficksburg in the Free State on Wednesday.It is understood that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.Paramedic s found that two men from the bakkie had sustained moderate injuries and they were transported to Ficksburg Hospital for further treatment, Netcare 911 reported.Fortunatel y, no serious or fatal injuries were reported.

On Saturday 25 June 2016 Marquard police station held a youth Clap and Tap music competition in conjunction with the nation event 16 June.

We had nine competing choirs from different seven police station of Ficksburg Cluster. The community hall of Moemaneng was full to capacity with youth from the surrounding areas of Marquard police station.Advocate Thabo Mokoena a secretary to the Free State Legislature was the main speaker of the day. He encouraged the youth to go back to school

and learn, discouraged them from destroying the state owned property like school and clinics buildings as well as the private owned property like busses and taxis. He encouraged them to participate in the upcoming national local elections and adhere to Independent Electoral Commission governing regulations.The youth were also addressed by representatives from Setsoto Municipality traffic department Senior Superintendent Dada Mofokeng, he appeal to the youth to respect traffic laws

and avoid drunken driving, drink and driving while using public road.We also did crime awareness about public drinking, rapes and drug abuse within the school premises and child abuse. We encouraged them to volunteer as police informers or use Crime Stop contact number 0860010111 and emergency number 10111 to report crime.Clocolan choir came first followed by Ladybrand and third place was taken Senekal and were all awarded with deserving trophies.

DA to request SAHRC to investigate make-shift pit-toilets The DA will submit a formal complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) to investigate a make-shift pit-toilets implemented by Setsoto Municipality which we contend are not fit for human use. In ward 1, Moemaneng in Marquard, we were horrified to discover that residents are subjected to make use of these toilets on a daily basis. As the government-built flush toilets are not flushing, residents have had to dig up holes behind their toilets, in order to insert a drum that stores human waste.

This drum needs to be emptied weekly.

This is not only unhygienic, it is also a primary cause of waterborne and airborne diseases that affects both users and sanitation workers who are expected to handle the waste on a weekly basis. This is

dehumanising and is an assault to human dignity. Proper sanitation provision should be a major priority for service delivery in this municipality. The DA will not allow this gross violation of human dignity to go unnoticed. I will request an investigation by the SAHRC to identify the root cause of the problem, and to provide recommendations to the municipality on a way forward. I sincerely hope that the municipality solves the issue of dysfunctional, non-flushing toilets urgently. The residents of Marquard deserve their dignity. The DA is the only party with a proven track record of delivering quality services where we govern.

On 3 August, the people of Setsoto can vote for positive change that delivers better services.

Deur : Boitumelo Motlhabane A chocolate company from Ficksburg in the eastern Free State will represent the province during an Investment and Trade Initiative by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to Russia. They will join twenty other companies who received financial support by the DTI to participate in the Investment and Trade Initiative (ITI). Co-owner of the company, Gavin Boy says he is confident and ready to expand the chocolate brand in Russia and there is definitely a market to be exploited in that part of the world. The company which employs 13 permanent locals has been established six years ago.

Boy says the company is mainly focusing on handmade products, very commercial and dominated by big corporations industries and what the company is bringing in is an individual product of a high quality.

He says the company is constantly looking for new products, new ideas, follow

world trends and health aspects of chocolate and use handmade quality food with no artificial flavours and preservatives.

"It’s passion to have clean products, you know chocolate is decorate, it is a very exciting product to have. A very romantic product you know we have had a look at various products," says Boy. Some of the employees say learning keeps them sane and they eager to teach other people. "I've learnt so much about chocolate, I didn't know anything about chocolate. Now I know everything with chocolate.

So I can do everything with chocolate," says one employee. Another coowner, Callen Thomas says the establishment of the company is communitydriven. "We have created jobs here for the community, we have trained people, we have had some people go and move to bigger and better jobs. So we are a stepping stone to help people create better lives for

themselves," says Thomas. The ITI is the flagship programme of the DTI which allows the DTI to facilitate access to markets for South African businesses that are manufacturing exports. The DTI- Chief Director Export and Promotion Marketing, Zanele Mkhize says, "We have what is called the business to business seminar. We have an investment seminar and included in those two as well. We have a mini exhibition that allows South Africa to showcase those products that they have to the Russian markets, that is what in summary would call the ITI to Russia." A four day trip to Moscow in Russia with the delegation of about 20 South African companies will be led by the deputy-minister of Trade and Industry, Mzwandile Masina."We have created jobs here for the community, we have trained people, we have had some people go and move to bigger and better jobs."

Twee weke later kry ek ‘n sms: “My kind, in die vier jaar na sy dood het ek vandag vir die eerste keer langs die see gaan loop. Met my voete so in die water het ek hom gehoor. Daar is ‘n rustigheid in my!

1 tbsp butter 2 onions, chopped 1 celery stalk, diced 3 medium carrots, pared and sliced 3 potatoes, peeled, halved and sliced 5 cups light chicken stock, heated 398 ml can black-eyed peas, drained 1 cup elbow macaroni Salt and pepper METHOD Prepare a bouquet garni consisting of : thyme, basil, parsley and bay leaves.

Set aside. Heat butter in large saucepan oven medium heat. Add onions and celery; cover and cook 4 minutes. Mix in carrots and season with salt and pepper. Cook 5 minutes uncovered. Add potatoes and chicken stock. Season and drop in bouquet garni. Bring to the boil and cook 12 minutes over medium heat. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to boil and cook 12 minutes at medium-low.

By : Ficksburg SAPS Last night, Tuesday,21 June 2016 at about 16:55 a clothing shop was robbed huge undisclosed amount of cash.It is alleged that three armed men stormed inside the shop just before they closing time. They pointed employees with fire arms (pistols) and demanded money including cellular phones. Then they dragged the employees into the store room; tide their hands with tyre

strips and locked them inside. Suspects stole hundred and twenty cellular phones and undisclosed amount of money before they ran away. No shots were fired, and no one sustained any injuries during the incident. Baby found without limbs FICKSBURG - Yesterday a postmortem has revealed that the limbs of the baby were cut off with a sharp object. On Saturday 17 June 2016 at about midnight members of Ficksburg Crime Prevention were patrolling in town. In Deviliers street they came across a suspicious plastic bag that was lying next to the pavement. They were shocked to see a dead body of a baby inside the plastic bag, it was without a left arm and a right leg. In another incident on Saturday 17 June 2016 an unknown man was found dead at a Ficksburg plot called Mahodialang. A postmortem has also revealed that the cause of his death was poisoning. party your voted for forgotten who the people are and it's time to give someone else a five year plan.

We need councillors in office that understands that a town in decay does not create jobs and attract new business.

We need councillors who understand that our children are growing up and falling victim to drug use and pregnancy because there's no opportunities for them. We need a Municipality that understands that it has a mandate to serve ALL the towns in die Municipality and not only the town where it's head office is based in. Political parties will come knocking and making promises, but what did your councillor do in your ward for the past five years?.
