TALK OF THE TOWN

Dear FIBC Members,

“I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God that cost me nothing.” II Samuel 24:24b

It’s HARVESTTIME at FIBC! November 6th is HARVEST SUNDAY for the pastor and people of FIBC. It’s STEWARDSHIP MONTH for our congregation LIFESTYLE STEWARDSHIP Our 2022 FIBC Theme Focus

Please remember Pastor Karen and I as well as the members of Lott Carey Baptist Mission Trip to Liberia and Ghana, 11/1 11. It will be my fourth trip to Liberia and Pastor Karen’s first. Our mission team is led by Dr. Gina M. Stewart, the first woman to serve as President of an African American Baptist denomination. FIBC is a contributor to the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention, a leader in Black led missions around the world.

Thank God, we are in our final phase of our FIBC Staff reorganization which begin last year and is already reaping blessings for FIBC. This last phase covers our Music Ministry. Sister Brenda G. Hankins, our longtime Minister of Music, informed me earlier this year that our veteran organist, Brother Raymond Kirkendall, and venerable bass player, Brother Greg McGlothen, are both retiring around the end of 2022. We praise God for their commitment to FIBC’s Music Ministry over dozens of years. Look forward to more changes to prepare our Music Ministry for the next level.

We welcome the Reverend Sharmal Cannon as our new Pastor of Congregational Care. She comes to us highly recommended by Bishop Simon Gordon of the Triedstone Full Gospel Baptist Church in Chicago, where she served on the pastoral staff for some 30 years She currently a member of the Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Mesa under the leadership of Pastor Sherman J. Fort. Pastor Cannon has already begun visiting members of FIBC on our sick and shut in list in the East Valley. Let’s pray that the Lord will use her strategically as the newest member of our team.

Keep the faith and be encouraged!

for November is A PASTOR AND PEOPLE LOVING TO TRANSFORM OTHERS THROUGH OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS!
