A game millions are downloading “Among Us” hits phones and computers Alexis Swoyer, Social Media Editor Recently the hype around social media and the gaming industry is a game called “Among Us,” which has been downloaded by over 86 million people around the world. The game, actually made in 2018, was just picked up from different popular gaming platforms that made its popularity skyrocket. The game can either be played on PC or on smartphones. One round can have up to 10 players and up to 3 “imposters.” The imposters of the game are a secret to the others who are not the chosen imposter. The imposter’s role is to try to sabotage or kill the rest of the players without getting caught.
The other players are called “crewmates,” and they do different tasks to try to stay alive and win. The crewmates along with the imposters have to vote out each player who they suspect is the imposter, or a player tries to have someone else voted out so that player does not look like the imposter. One thing that is difficult about “Among Us” is that if people want to play with a group of friends, everyone needs to have the same code to be in a match together.
Also, if someone meets new friends in the game, there is not the ability to friend them. There are rumors that the feature will be coming in soon, but it has not been confirmed yet. “It’s a thrilling game. I love that each match is different from the past one I just played. It’s a surprise every time I play,” said Ethan Kleppinger, Whitehall High School.
