TheFoundationforHumanRights workswithcivilsocietyorganisations toaddressGBVin23communitiesin SouthAfrica.Thisprogramme,made possiblebytheEuropeanUnionand FordFoundation,iscalled Masibambisanewhichmeansunite, holdinghands,let’sworktogetherin isiZulu.Theprogrammesupports communitystakeholdersfromcivil society,government,statutory bodiesandtheprivatesectortotake greateragencyinaddressingthe GBVFpandemicandtocreateGBVFfreezonesincommunities.

AbouttheMasibambisaneProgramme

TheFoundationforHumanRightsworkswithcivilsocietyorganisationstoaddressGBVFin23 communities in South Africa. The programme, called Masibambisane (unite, holding hands, let’sworktogetherinisiZulu),supportscommunitymemberstoworktogethertoaddressthis scourge. The programme facilitates participation and strengthening of community GBVF stakeholderstotakegreateragencyindealingwithGBVFthroughcreatingGBVF-freezones, andcollaboratingascivilsociety,government,statutorybodies,andtheprivatesector.

AbouttheFoundationforHumanRights(FHR)

FHRpartnerswithcivilsocietyorganisationsandpublicinstitutionstopromoteandfacilitate increasedawareness,respect,protectionandfulfilmentoftherightsenshrinedinSouthAfrica’s Constitution.Withinthis,theFHRprioritisestherightsofthemostmarginalisedandvulnerable. FHRdoesthisthroughatwo-prongedapproachasafundingintermediary(grant-maker)and throughdirectimplementationofprogrammes.FHRprioritiseshumanrightsawarenessraising, advocacyandcivilsocietymobilisation,capacitystrengthening,research,policydevelopment, regionalandinternationalcooperation.
