The PROPOSAL

As Told By The Bride

After graduating with my degree in Paralegal Studies I couldn’t wait to celebrate with my family and friends at the graduation party Tomas and my parents put together.

The day of the party was perfect from start to finish. I tell everyone it was almost too good to be true! My hair, makeup and nails were perfect! My dress fit perfect and my heels didnt hurt my feet (lol). When the party started I was in awe of the elegant decor and the turn out of family and friends who came out to celebrate my accomplishment. I saw Tomas running back and forth during the party and thought to myself he is going to give me an ear full later about all of the work he had to do for my party. In the middle of the party he walked in with a huge box and placed it with my gifts from other guests.

The box was huge and of course I was curious as to what could be inside. Once we ate and the party slowed down a bit my mother suggested to start opening gifts. I declined but said I’ll definitely open this big box!! I sat in a chair in the middle of the room with all of my family and friends surrounded. As I opened the box balloons flew out, then there was a note to pop a balloon filled with confetti.

Inside of that balloon was a scroll that said “Tekirria, Will you marry me?” I couldn’t believe it! How could everyone really keep this a secret from me! Time felt like it stopped! I turned around and there was Tomas on one knee with a beautiful ring!! I said YES to forever.

As Told By The Groom

In my head I always imagined myself getting

married at the age of 30. In 2019 I felt that it was time and I knew it would take at least a year to plan a wedding.

Initially, I planned to take a group of friends to Vegas to propose in front of the Bellagio fountains. But we all know things never go as planned when planning trips with friends! The next idea on the list was the best indeed. I planned to propose surrounded by family and her graduation party was the perfect event. I went to my future Mother and Father(s) in law to ask for their blessing and found the ring a week before the party! The day of her graduation party was hectic between helping set up, giving directions, and dealing with butterflies in my gut. As the party began everyone could see the excessive sweat coming from my forehead but the time was here! I walked in with a huge custom box my mother created, placed it with her gifts, and prayed she had no clue what was next. When the time came to open gifts the family surrounded her, I presented her with the box, and as she opened her “gift”. Balloons flew to the ceiling and one balloon read “pop me”. As the balloon popped a small scroll fell out reading “Tekirria, Will you marry me?”. As she turned around there I was on one knee asking her can we make us forever!
