The Green & Blue is 9-3 all time in season opening contests. The team holds an impressive record of 11-1 in all-time home openers with just one loss at the hands of Florida State (2007).

Redshirt sophomore Whitney Knight returned to action this season after sitting out all of last season with an ACL injury. Knight excelled with a career-high 25 points and three blocks in the season opener at FIU and has since averaged a 12.8 points per game with 31 blocks.

threes against no. 3 The Eagles faced RPI ranked no. 3 Stanford on Wednesday, Nov. 27 in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. The Green and Blue put up a Hardwood Tournament of Hope single-game record 14 3-point baskets. Although the team fell to the perennial powerhouse, the mark stays as a season-high.

need numbers The Eagles’ fast-paced offense has been crucial this season. Four of FGCU’s five wins this year have come when the team scored 71 points or more. Four of the team’s losses have been at the hands of opponents who have held them to 60 points or fewer.

ALL IN STRONG START The Eagles earned their third-consecutive win against Charlotte at home before losing three straight on the road. The team has bounced back with two wins to increase the record to 5-3.

AWAY FOR THE HOLIDAYS The Hardwood Tournament of Hope marked the fourth-consecutive year the Eagles have traveled for a specialty tournament. With trips to Mexico, Hawaii and the Virgin Islands, the Green and Blue holds a record of 6-5 in the last four seasons.

nO sophomore slump After averaging 3.9 points per game in 12 minutes last season, sophomore Stephanie Haas has stepped up her game this year. Haas had a breakout week with two-consecutive career-high scoring performances where she put up 19 points against Charlotte and followed with 20 points at Southern Miss. She followed with 22 points in the win over USF. She is currently averaging a team-high 13.4 points per game in 28.0 minutes and has started all 11 games this season.

All 11 players that have seen playing time this year have put up points for the Eagles. Stephanie Haas currently leads the team with 147 points on the year, while Bethany Murrell has recorded the fewest at nine points.

international increase Although the Eagles’ shooting percentage fell during the three-game swing in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the Eagles returned to the United States with an increased 3-point shooting percentage. The team went 38-for-110 from beyond-the-arc in Mexico to bring the overall 3-point percentage to .335.

tough month Of the seven opponents the Eagles will face between November 27 and December 29, five teams appeared in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. After four straight games against tournament teams, the Eagles took on top-tier competition in Saint Francis and Virginia. They’ll finish the streak by taking on a strong Saint Joseph’s team to conclude the nonconference stretch.
