Horwich has so much to offer from sports and recreational activities, musical and creative talent, community groups and orgnaisations, charities and a town centre brimming with independent shops. ... and let’s not forget the beautiful West Pennine Moors and Rivington on our door step.
Festival of Horwich Exhibition
The following pages perfectly illustrate how diverse and exciting Horwich is when it comes to culture, heritage and community activities.
Horwich has a history spanning over 4,500 years, the same time Stonehenge was built!
Our town’s name has also evolved over the past 1,000 years, including its name – from Horewic, Harewych, Horewyche to Horwich.
In 1891, with the arrival or the Loco Works, Horwich saw a boom in population. People from around the UK came to make this their new home.
With all the new housing developments throughout Horwich we are witnessing another boom in population,
with an estimated increase of 7,500 new residents.
As a town and close knit community we have lots to offer each other and those new residents who will be arriving in the next few years.
Remember, they want to make this their new home because as a town we have so much to offer and that is something we should all be enormously proud of.
The Festival of Horwich Exhibition will be situated outside in the RMI car park with lots of fascinating exhibits from Horwich Heritage and Horwich Cycling Club in conjunction with the Festival of Racing in the RMI Brunel Suite.

We are very fortunate to have our very own Independent Town Centre which offers an abundance of retail shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs, bars, and professional services.
By shopping local and you can see where your money is goingsupporting jobs in the area and providing investment in the local economy, where your contributions, however small, make a significant difference.
For every £1 you spend in Horwich 63p stays in our local economy, whereas every penny spent with Amazon pays for a pointless rocket.

HORWICH TOWN COUNCIL
Your Town Council has been working hard to bring in much needed investment into our Town, to help improve the place we all call home.
As a Town Council we are placing a great deal of effort and energy into identifying a variety of grants to help fund our short and long term ambitions. Tapping into these grants will serve to keep your precept down whilst delivering more value in our community.
One such grant is already being applied for, allowing Horwich Town Council to purchase the RMI Cricket Ground protecting it from the risk of future housing development – Allowing events such as the Festival of Horwich to continue on this green space.
