The dream came true! Although today the main task of our schools should be that of training critically-minded and autonomous citizens, we are also responsible for preparing students to a larger world than the one in which they live in. To ensure that they are at the cutting edge of the real-world that is waiting for them, we should guide students to look outside of the classroom. First of all, it is necessary that they look up to their schoolmates; secondly, that they look up to their school community; after that to the larger community in their hometown; finally, to their partners from other schools and other countries. Then they will be looking at the entire humankind.

This will warrant that students will be developing cognitive (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and social skills. Creativity and critical thinking are naturally linked to the development of the previous abilities. “O sonho comanda a vida” (“May our dreams lead our lives”) said once António Gedeão, a Portuguese teacher and poet. This verse could be a suitable motto of our project, approved by the European Commission.
The first seed has been sown in the previous year with an eTwinning project with the same name “Movere, Docere, Delectare through Reading”.
Transnational Meeting
The partners gathered today accepted the challenge of the actual coordinator Luminiţa Radu. She could bring together our wills and guide us to create a project, which required a hard work of all the partners to achieve the main objective: submit the best project we were able to do. The approval of the project transformed the dream into reality for all the partners involved. We finally met in Sibiu, Romania, for the first transnational meeting in November 16th to 19th. In September students started creating video presentations so that their partners could meet the other schools. In October,
they made bookmarkers and logos in order to choose the project’s logo. Bulgaria won this competition, and we are very proud of our logo. In November, students of all the levels chose their favourite books and teachers organized a list of three books, one belonging to international literature and two from the national one. This activity allowed us to find out that we share some mutual preferences. Students also presented their favourite books through ICT tools. Finally, in December, students visited elderly people and other disadvantaged groups and performed reading sessions to them. Besides these activities that we will share with you in our MDD newspaper, whose first edition is going to be published now, we would like to let you discover other attractive events that each partner has developed over these four months. We are also inviting you to play with us: solve some crosswords and puzzles! We hope you enjoy it… Fernanda Vicente, edited by Luminiţa Radu.
