01. CONFLUENCIA TOWER (2020)

Project Description

Area: 18.000m2

Construction: 2020 - 2022

The project stems from the need to accommodate a multifunctional program that encompasses three distinct functions. These include an office tower, a base housing sports facilities for soccer/hockey, and lastly, a commercial podium aimed at enhancing a crucial vehicular hub.

The building was conceived with a brutalist and austere materiality. The client, who owns a concrete manufacturing company, led to the decision of predominantly utilizing reinforced concrete for the structure and enclosure. Notably, this marks the first building of such characteristics in the city of Neuquén Capital.The multifunctional program consists of an office tower emerging from a base that firmly grounds itself. Vertical circulations are managed by a reinforced concrete core detached from the main office tower.

This project embodies the convergence of diverse functions into a unified architectural expression, establishing a unique presence within Neuquén Capital and responding to the functional needs of the surrounding urban context.

Responsibilities:

As part of the project team, the responsibility was from the design, documentation and coordination with different areas of the construction company that executed the project. These tasks included finishing defining the design of different areas of the project, the design and construction methods. As well as the technologies to use.

HOTEL + ROWING CLUB

Project Description:

Construction:

The program consists of a hotel accommodation sector, designed to accommodate 128 people. It offers various room types, with single rooms on the north side and duplex units with 1 to 2 bedrooms, aiming to cater to different types of users. Operating as an Apart-Hotel, each room is equipped with a kitchen, enhancing user habitation and comfort. The mentioned accommodation is organized in a strip that hovers perpendicular to the river, freeing up ground floor space and generating flexibility.

On its ground floor, there’s the lobby, office area, and reception. The connection to its more public/private use levels is established through its lower level, along with various recreational spaces. The entire ground floor of the building serves as the new terminus for the waterfront promenade. Beneath it, on the basement level, the connection is facilitated through an open articulation space. The area for water sports (canoeing) includes a section for physical preparation (gyms), changing rooms, and a kayak storage area.

Responsibilities:

The final project was the last undertaking completed at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of UNLP. It was evaluated with the highest grade for a bachelor’s thesis. I personally conceptualized, developed, and documented the building. Throughout the process, I sought consultations and received feedback from various departments and advisors, including structural engineering, installations, and sustainability, to ensure comprehensive completion.

Project Description:

Project: 2020 - 2021

Construction:

The riverside location of the site facilitated a project solution characterized by synthesis, achieving formal, spatial, and programmatic efficiency that will encapsulate the emotions and desires of its users.

The architectural piece was conceived as simple, comprising two levels and a covered upper level. The ground floor accommodates the programs dedicated to the Canoeing School, featuring a reception, classrooms, mixed changing rooms, and a nautical storage area with capacity for 80 vessels. An extensive parking area with dedicated access for trailers and boats was also incorporated. Accessibility and integration into the activity are paramount considerations; therefore, the building design encompasses the necessary measures and conveniences for disabled individuals. In the material selection, a focus was placed on using noble materials such as concrete, steel, wood, and metal roofing. Considering economic constraints, materials were chosen that exhibit durability over the short term, require minimal maintenance, and do not impose high initial investment costs.

Responsible for project design and rendering, as well as coordinating the work team and meetings with the city municipality.

HOUSE FOR ONE FAMILY IN THE LAKE

Project Description:

The residence is situated by Lake Marimenuco, one of the most significant lakes in the Patagonian region of Neuquén City. The owner requested the construction of a weekend getaway home, designed and built using Steel Frame technology due to the challenges of traditional construction methods in this remote area.

The architectural design centers around a large inclined roof that serves both as protection against intense summer heat and as a response to the strong winds characteristic of the region. This roof shelters the programmatic elements of the house.

The choice of Steel Frame technology allows for efficient construction in this remote location, where traditional methods might prove challenging. The location by Lake Marimenuco adds a scenic and tranquil dimension to the retreat, offering a serene environment for the weekend escape.

Project Description:

The semi-covered area is located at the rear of a spacious property, where the owner’s residence is situated within a gated community. This addition caters to the need for a gathering space where the family can enjoy meals, both for lunches and dinners.

The design introduces a deck and semi-covered structure that harmonizes with the existing trees on the property. To achieve this, the trees are integrated into the built environment, with their presence intersecting the constructed surface. The proposed structure employs various sections of black-painted metal profiles to provide support and framework. This choice not only ensures structural stability but also safeguards the components from adverse weather conditions. The deck itself is crafted entirely from naturally seasoned wood, enhancing its aesthetic appeal and longevity, and has been coated with a protective varnish.

The integration of the deck and semi-covered space with the surrounding trees and the overall property landscape creates an inviting environment for family gatherings while maintaining a strong connection with nature.

HOUSE SANTA ANGELA II

Project Description:

Construction: 2018 - 2020

This residence is located in Centenario, a town near Neuquén’s capital, within a gated community. The design of the house aims to evoke different spatial sensations and textures through the materials used. The program is sheltered beneath a sloping lightweight metal roof. However, the front part of the house is conceived as a grand porch that appears to float in the air, playing with the interplay of lightness and solidity.

The exterior walls are composed of exposed brick, employing a double-wall construction with an air gap in between. The arrangement of the bricks varies in both vertical and horizontal joints, creating a dynamic and non-repetitive pattern throughout the façade. The area designated for the garage and barbecue space seeks to replicate the same spatial sensations as the main dwelling but on a smaller scale. This approach maintains a cohesive architectural language throughout the property while offering a unique experience even in the ancillary areas.

The intentional manipulation of materials, textures, and spatial arrangements creates a dynamic and engaging living environment that responds to the context and the desires of the occupants.

The residence occupies a privileged site facing the shores of the Limay River. Positioned on the land like an observatory house, its expansive window acts as a frame for the unique natural backdrop. The house departs from traditional form, layering planes and volumes, while also playing with textures and colors.

The design responds to the owners’ requests by creating distinct spaces. These include both public and private meeting areas. A significant double-height space serves as the central hub, housing the living and dining areas. This space also serves as the entry point and functions as a division between different levels.

The architectural composition breaks away from conventions, creating a dynamic arrangement of forms that interact with the environment. The use of expansive glazing capitalizes on the remarkable natural context, while the interplay of textures and colors adds depth and character to the structure. This design philosophy results in a house that is not only functional but also a visually captivating and harmonious addition to its natural surroundings.
