Anna Placidi’s work is a celebration of still life andcaptured moments in time.

Inspired by the natural elements of her surrounding environment, Anna also reinterprets intricate embroidered patterns, textilesand porcelain that she collects from around the world combing them with everyday objects and flowers.

Born into a family of talented musicians, it’s no surprise Casey Burrill discovered artistic expression from an early age.

Living near the Geelong coast, the ocean provides inspiration for her vibrant, textural works. Casey’s playful use of colour seems to dance on the canvas with a sense of freedom and movement.

Cate Maddy revisits the still life tradition and looks at contemporary ways of negotiating the relationships between stillness and movement with her artworks. Using colour to heighten emotion in her pieces and suggest sumptuous luxury, she reference the gluttony and excesses of modern times.

“The things that have helped me maintain my positivity are, firstly to do with maintaining my practice of collecting native flora from around the area, if I come home from a walk with a fresh branch of gum leaves that might have dropped from the tree and a couple of twiggs of different varieties of wattle then that is great inspiration.�

“When I found out the exhibition was titled ’Feel good’, instantly I knew I needed to paint big. I wanted to paint colour and make it bold and juicy.

These colours with my signature line would be gems of memories. Precious gems of sights, smells, touch or sounds that have not left my memory.”
