Cottenham Village Green and Cottenham Village College
24th to 26th June 2022

24th to 26th June 2022
On behalf of the Fen Edge Community Association, after an enforced fallow year, I am delighted to welcome you back to the Fen Edge Festival, with all your favourite attractions and some new ones, which we hope will be just as popular.
This time we are continuing our sustainability journey. We will again be offering reusable cups and we have asked all our suppliers to provide sustainable products where possible. We have estimated our carbon footprint and will offset our emissions through a verified tree-planting scheme. Find out more about these and other efforts in our ‘Eco Zone’.
The Festival brings together the best aspects of the community and life of the Fen Edge villages. Without the generous support of our sponsors, all local businesses, the Festival could not go ahead. The volunteer Organising Committee give their time and expertise to make sure there is an exciting programme of events. The stewards, also volunteers, ensure that the Festival is safe for everyone to enjoy. Finally, there’s you, our visitors, the last piece needed to make the Festival a success.
Since the last Festival, the Fen Edge villages have welcomed many new residents. If that includes you, then this is your Festival too, so please come along and join in the fun. For those who’ve been here before, here’s a chance for you and your family to catch up with old friends and maybe make some new ones. That’s what the Festival is all about – family, friends and community.
We’re really excited to be able to bring the Festival back this year, and look forward to seeing you all there!

The Fen Edge Festival committee would like FEF 2022 to be carbon neutral and has been working with Sustainable Cottenham to work out our carbon footprint to see what we can do about compensating for the additional emissions caused by the Festival.
The Festival’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are estimated to be in the region of 13 tCO2e (13 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent). So, we will buy units equating to 15 tCO2e via the Government-backed Woodland Carbon Code (WCC) which creates woodland projects in the UK.
This is where you can help. For a £5 donation you can plant a virtual tree with your name on it in the Fen Edge Festival’s Virtual Forest, which we hope to expand at future festivals. All the money raised will go to the UK Woodland Carbon Code project. If we beat our target then we will purchase extra units and work towards being climate positive.

The ever-popular Retro-Gaming re-appears from its dusty store where it has been since lockdown. We shall be putting out around 35 consoles and computers for you to play, all the favourites - Sega, Nintendo, Sinclair, Atari and many more. And we have two whole days of Retro-Gaming for you this year! Don’t worry - we’ll be sure to mix it up a little, so if you don’t spot your favourite Sonic or Mario game first time around, pop back again and maybe you’ll discover your old favourite or maybe something completely new to you.

Please come along and support these enterprising young people who have started their own businesses selling a range of fantastic gifts, including hand-painted items, candles, jewellery, accessories and decoupage work. Details of stall holders can be found on our Facebook page.
You’ll find these wonderful stalls on the Village Green and all the way down to the Village College.
There is some on-street parking available in Cottenham but these spaces will be under severe pressure during the Festival.
We will have a restricted number of parking spaces for Blue Badge holders along the road closure by the Village Green.
…in Denmark Road on the side of the road running from the Chequers Public House to Telegraph Street (West side). If cars are parked on both sides, the bus cannot get through. There will be traffic cones indicating the zone in question.
…in Rampton Road along the side of the Village Green. Parking in this area causes congestion and stops the flow of traffic. Again, cones will be placed in the area.
At the last Fen Edge Festival we introduced reusable plastic ‘glasses’ for beer, Pimm’s and soft drinks served from our bars and this saved over 2,000 plastic cups from landfill. At this year’s Festival we are working with Sustainable Cottenham to extend the scheme to include wine glasses too.
There will be a £1 deposit to pay when you buy a drink, which will be refunded when you return your ‘glass’. Or if you want, you can keep the glass for another drink later in the
We have many safety measures in place, including trained stewards in high visibility jackets, equipped with walkie talkies. Fire extinguishers will be available in marquees and around the Festival site. First aiders will also be present for the duration of the Festival.
To ensure you stay safe, please follow any instructions from stewards and people running activities. Please also remember that parents and carers remain responsible for the children in their care at all times.
Should you have any concerns about any aspect of the Festival please alert a steward or go to the Control Tent - there will be someone there to help.
