Be ready. I will likely hug you at the door.

Because hiring me means more than hiring a photographer. I am here to become part of your family. Hopefully for a while. I will get to know you very well in the hours we are together. There will be talking, laughing, and sharing. I want to learn about the gems of your family-ness. When shit hits the fan, I will be there to empathize and agree that this parenting gig is hard, and share my own gong shows. And then we will laugh about those as well. By having me be part of your family, you have shown trust in me to capture the most intimate of moments. Affection, joy, and silliness, equally with tears, tantrums, and disciplining.

No rules, no expectations. You just need to embrace who you are.

DAY IN THE LIFE NUANCES OF EVERYDAY MOMENTS

This is for your everyday. You may feel like your life is mundane but I promise you, it is not. There is uniqueness that is true to your family even in the most ordinary moments.

You work hard, and some days you feel unappreciated. I will show you how your everyday grind does not go unnoticed, how you love and are loved. The highs and lows that go into being a family will be so richly captured it will look like no one else's. SESSION RETAINER

Half day, 4-5 hours - $500 Full day, 8-10 hours - $800 Additional hours - $90/hour Session retainer does not include any print or digital products. Travel is included for anywhere in the Greater Vancouver area.

Once the session retainer is received, I will send out a client agreement and questionnaire to you.

An in-person consultation may be requested prior to session.

One in-person viewing and ordering appointment when your gallery is ready.

DAY IN THE LIFE PRINT AND DIGITAL PRODUCT COLLECTIONS

My goal is to leave you with your story in your hands.

Products are thoughtfully designed as three different collections. If you require custom print product orders in addition to that, I will walk you through all of it in person during your viewing and ordering appointment.

If you would like a fusion slideshow, you must let me know me prior to the session. Videos cannot be created after the session is over!

Collection 1: $1900 All edited high resolution digital files.

Birth is a beautiful paradox. In the separation of something that has been together for nine months, there is beauty and relief in the cleaving. There is labour, but there is also reward.

People who choose birth photography want the ability to process their birth journey down the road. The photos will help us see our strength, triumphs, and show us the support and love that was given, no matter the outcome.

I am here to document your baby's birth day as honestly as possible, and without judgement. I aim to match the energy of your birth space and to be as supportive as I can of your journey, however it is shaping out.

All births deserve to be celebrated in photographs. Once you decide this is something you want, share it with your birth caregivers. As birth photography is not yet commonplace, you may need to advocate for your right to have your birth photographed in some hospitals, particularly in the OR.

IN PREPARATION

We will meet in person within a month or two before your due date to discuss call procedure details, unexpected outcomes, and simply, to get to know each other.

Keep me updated on any progress, as soon as any symptoms present themselves.

I will come when you are 5-6cm dilated, but may come sooner if your previous birth history has been precipitous.

SESSION RETAINER: $800

Covers on-call time (within 2 weeks of due date), shooting, and editing. I will stay up to 2 hours post-birth so capture the first moments with baby.

Digital and print products are not included in retainer.

Birth is undoubtedly transformative and fear and worry is par for the course.

Doctor or midwife, hospital or home, epidural or drug-free, vaginal or cesarean - the choices are many. In birth, awareness of what is (or not) within our control and how we have been supported through the process, will be stepping stones to finding selfacceptance for these big changes.

HOSPITAL NEWBORN SESSIONS THE FIRST HOURS OF LIFE If birth is not where your documentary heart is, perhaps the first hours are.

The first hours are not just time. They are chock full of first moments that your baby (and you!) will be experiencing together.

Fingers sensing and feeling this new space, in this new world. His first voice crying out, her first latch at your breast. Their newborn examination and first weigh-in.

Then the visitors whom are all eager to flood their love and support for this new life, and your newly defined family.

IN HOME NEWBORN SESSIONS

IN HOME NEWBORN SESSIONS THE FIRST FEW WEEKS OF LIFE

This is for when the adrenaline is worn off and sleep deprivation and fogginess set in. You are on autopilot, taking it hour by hour, feed by feed. Before you know it, weeks have flown by, a few growth spurts have happened, and it is time for their first set of vaccinations.  The first weeks of a newborn is truly when growing happens the quickest, and with the combination of our exhaustion and the repetitive nature of awake/play, feed, sleep, it is remarkable that we remember anything from those days at all.

This is where I come in - to help you document all the heavy lifting you are doing to help your baby/babies thrive and grow those cheeks, chins, and rolls. And for parents that are not firsttimers, to show you all the juggling while you shift to make room for this new life/lives. There is magic in the mundane and this is the stage of life that has plenty of it!

SESSION DETAILS In-home newborn sessions are documented as half-day or full-day sessions. The Collections are the same as that of Day in the life sessions.

PRINT YOUR PHOTOS YOUR IMAGES ONLY BECOME PHOTOS IF YOU USE THEM

Digitals photos are great, only if they get used. They are no good to you or anyone sitting on a dusty ol' hard drive, never seeing the light of day. What are the chances you will be digging it out, sorting out the folders, finding these files in 3, 5, or 10 years to look at them on a computer screen (of current technology) with your family around you? Wouldn't you rather hold a box of prints, or an album, already designed to tell your stories through time?

Either through collections or a la carte orders, let's find a way to turn these digital files into photos for your hands and on your walls. I will work with you to find your favourites and set the wheels of printed stories into motion, so you can enjoy them anytime, everyday.

questions + answers Q: What does documentary mean? Do we have to pose? How do we act?

My documentary-style approach of capturing your family means no posing is necessary and no props will be used. I do my best not to alter the environment or influence your behaviour in any way. All you have to do is be yourself and carry on as you typically would with your family. My job is to make the experience feel like we are hanging out together and that the camera is almost an afterthought. Sometimes I will quietly observe, other times I will join into the fun that your family is having!

Q: What kind of locations do you recommend?

I shoot both in-home and on-location, but regardless of the “where”, the more important question is – will this place be meaningful to you? Think of places that your family visits as part of your ritual or routine. The connection between people is important, but if the environment can enrich the story, it will be even more meaningful!

Q: What should we plan to do?

No plan is needed. Offer up a couple of options to get things rolling, and then, let the kids take the reigns. Allow your time together unfold organically, with no expectations. Just relax, enjoy, love on your family, and let me capture all of that!

Q: What should we wear?

Please do not go out and buy new outfits for everyone. It is not that kind of session. You do not even need to coordinate your outfits with your current wardrobe. Dress with comfortable clothing you already own, something you feel great wearing and that your kids can play in. It would not really reflect everyday life if you are dressed in well coordinated clothing, would it?

Q: Do we have to clean our house?

Not at all! But if you really must, think of it as friends are visiting – tidy up like you would for them. Please don’t stress about cleaning every baseboard and plate rail, and staging it like it belongs in the pages of Houzz. To me, a messy house means a home well lived in and loved.

Q: What if our child doesn’t behave ideally?

If you child is being who they are with me, as they would with you, then I cannot ask for more. Children are often the most authentic of the bunch, their actions and expressions are pure and unfiltered and that, to me, is gold.

Please don’t feel the need to bribe or discipline, unless of course it is a situation that requires your attention at that moment. Please do not be alarmed if I document those tender or challenging moments as well, because family life is a full spectrum of joy and tears.

Q: Can we have traditional portraits?

Sometimes traditional portraits are important too! Grandparents love to have them framed on the mantle or their wall – I know mine do! Please let me know ahead of time if this is something you would like. We can spend 5 to 10 minutes at some point during your session to do a few camera aware shots. This is the portion of the program where I will offer some direction, particularly to keep the children engaged long enough to capture a few images.

Please note that this is not guaranteed, as some children are just not willing or feeling up to it at that moment.

questions + answers Q: What are the payment timelines like?

First, your booking is confirmed with payment of the session retainer. After your session has been edited and ready for sharing (typically 6 to 8 weeks after your session), this is when payment for your Collection of choice is due. If you order additional products, payment is required prior to placing the order with the labs.

Q: Do you accept payment plans?

Absolutely! I want to work with your families to create this visual diary legacy, so we can definitely find a way to stagger payments out in such a way that fits with your monthly budget.

Q: What is a print release?

When you purchase digital files, you will receive a limited print release that will give you permission to use the images for non-commercial purposes. This includes the permission to print an unlimited number of copies of the images in any size and share the watermarked version on the web. However, copyright and artistic ownership remains with me.

Q: What is a model release? What if we prefer to keep our images private?

An industry standard model release allows me to use the images for any reasonable purpose for my portfolio and marketing. That being said, if you give permission to use these images, but do not wish to have your real names used in connection with them, I will respect that request to retain your family’s privacy.

Q: What if I have to cancel?

Your session retainer serves as a non-refundable fee. If you cancel more than 7 days before your session, the retainer may be transferred to a session at a future date within the calendar year. However, if you cancel less than 7 days before your session, I reserve the right to retain the amount in full.

Q: Would it be possible to customize my own product collection?

Yes, if you wish to order more products than the ones offered in the collections, be my guest! I can walk you through anything you may need, individual fine-art prints, grandparent albums, canvases, wall art collage, or otherwise.

Q: I have a vision for a wall gallery in my home for images from our session. Would you be able to help me design it?

Absolutely! I have a nifty little software that can take a snapshot that you give me of the wall you have in mind, and design a collage of your favourite images for virtual display, to scale. That way you’ll get a really good sense of how it will look like once mounted for display.
