GOOD MUSIC VIBES IN THE HILLS

The hills are alive with the sound of music in the Highland Lakes. With everything from blues to country to rock to jazz to Texas Swing, local venues feature live musicians almost nightly. Check out the Uptown Marble Theater in Marble Falls, the LanTex Theater in Llano and the Odeon Theater in Mason as well as any number of area bar and grills.

River City Grille, 700 First St. — This lakeside restaurant is a popular home for TexAmericana music. Performances at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays include singer/ songwriters Mike Blakely, Larry Nye and Jeff “Wild Horse” Posey, along with special guests. Acoustic night with local favorite john Arthur martinez is 7 p.m. Wednesdays. LanTex Theater, 113 W. Main on the Courthouse Square — This historic theater is home to the Llano Country Opry, featuring many country greats. The venue also shows movies on many Fridays and

The Uptown Marble Theater, 218 Main St. — The venue was a movie house from 1942 until it temporarily closed its doors in June 2003. Russell Buster and Linda Callaway re-opened the building as a live entertainment venue in October 2004. Today, the Uptown Marble Arts Alliance manages the 280seat theater and presents music performances in all genres, as well as comedy, dance, theater and art education programs for youth.
