SLOW DOWN IN YOUR STREET: NOMINATE A LOCATION Concerned about speeding in your neighbourhood? Federation Council is inviting residents to nominate local streets for our portable speed boards and ‘Slow Down’ signage. These boards provide motorists with real time speed feedback, serving as a vital reminder to stay within the limit. With 29.3% of serious injury and fatality crashes in our region involving speed, these tools are essential for educating drivers and keeping our residential areas safe. If you’d like to see a speed board or “slow down” sign in your street, let us know! Simply suggest a location by completing the quick online form available on Council’s website. Together, we can encourage safer driving habits and protect our community.

AGEING WELL ON THE ROAD As we age, staying independent and mobile is incredibly important. In New South Wales, Transport for NSW manages driver licensing to ensure our older drivers can stay on the road safely for as long as possible. If you or a loved one are navigating these milestones, here is a quick guide to what you need to know: Ages 70–74: No mandatory medical or practical tests are required unless recommended by a doctor. You can find out what you need to do to keep driving or riding after you turn 70 including the eyesight test, fitness to drive medical assessment and the driving or riding test on the Service NSW Website – Older Drivers, Riders and Road Users. Age 75: You must undergo an annual medical assessment. Age 85 and above: Along with annual medical reviews, you must pass a practical driving test every two years to maintain an unrestricted licence. Modified Licence: Instead of the practical test, drivers 85+ can opt for a modified licence (restricting driving to local essential services) without an on-road assessment. Planning ahead? You can find further information as well as download and print Transport NSW’s comprehensive guide to older driver licensing options from our website. Let’s look out for each other and age well on the road.
