LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Members,
As we come together for our final general meeting of 2024, I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to all of our members for their involvement in our Guild. A special thank you goes to our volunteers, whose selfless dedication ensures the continued success of our Guild. Some go above and beyond what is expected, and it’s truly appreciated. Without your efforts, we would not be able to operate, and I want to personally thank each of you.
For those who have not yet ventured into the world of volunteering but are considering it, I encourage you to come and have a chat with either myself or one of the other committee members. We would love to have you join us!
This year, we’ve had the privilege of participating in numerous outside events, including at Morayfield Shopping Centre, Burpengary Community Centre, Caboolture Square Shopping Centre, and Heritage Day at the Caboolture Showgrounds, as well as two election events and, of course, our Member’s Exhibition and a couple of morning teas. These events provide fantastic opportunities to promote our Guild, raise funds, and gain valuable experience and personal growth. I sincerely appreciate the extra effort from our members and volunteers to make each event a great success.
Looking ahead to next year, my vision is for us to continue working together to grow our Guild, showcase our high-quality arts and crafts, and run workshops that will help further develop your talents. I also aim to encourage more people through our doors. Please feel free to reach out with any ideas or suggestions on how we can achieve these goals.
We are also in the process of updating our procedures, policies, and paperwork. Once complete, these will be emailed to all members for your reference.
Lastly, I would like to remind everyone that while our committee meetings are reserved for committee members only, you are always welcome to attend our general meetings. These are held on the second Wednesday of February, May, August (preceded by the AGM), and November, starting at 9:30 am.
Thank you once again for your continued support, and I look forward to an exciting year ahead with you all.
Warm regards,
Next Meeting
All committee members are invited to attend the next Management Meeting on Wednesday, December 11th at 9:30 a.m.
As always, the meeting will be held at the Old Bay Road Art Gallery.
We look forward to seeing you there as we plan for an exciting year ahead!
COMMITEE HIGHLIGHTS
Shop Convenor’s Report: Shop sales remained steady over the past month. We are in the process of organising floor cleaning for the shop with centre management. For a detailed update on the cleaning schedule, please refer to the minutes from the latest meeting. Di.
Roster Update: January and February rosters are now on the board. Please add your name before the Christmas break to secure shifts that work best for you. If a volunteer misses their shift, please make every effort to contact them. If they are unreachable or cannot fulfil their duties, contact Marilyn immediately. Remember, please don’t work alone. Thanks to everyone who helped on voting day— sales were good, and the day ran smoothly. Special thanks to Roy and Jane for their assistance with Friday duties. Marilyn
Outside Convenor’s Report: Caboolture stall sales were lower than expected due to the current economic climate. However, the November Morayfield Craft Stall sales increased, despite another craft stall being set up opposite us. Feedback from the public was positive, with many preferring our quality handmade items. Thanks to the volunteers who stepped in for extra shifts when needed. Chris
Art Coordinator’s Report: It’s time to clear the Gallery for the Christmas break. Art sales have been good this year, with a few lay-bys and post-exhibition sales. The Gallery will close on 14th December, so please make sure to sign out your artwork from the Exhibition Folder or any additional consignment sheets. As larger art pieces are coming in, we may need to limit the number of large or medium-sized works depending on available space. Roy.
Craft Coordinator’s Report: The final Crafters of the Month display is set up, featuring creations from the Super Tuesday Sewers, including bags, brush holders, and quilts. The craftsmathe discretion of the craft coordinator. Items not sold after six months will be removed to make room for new stock. For hand towels, the agreed prices are $12 for doubles and $8 for singles. Avoid using soft wooden buttons on towels, as they deteriorate after washing. For packaging, please use cellophane, as plastic bags are not suitable. Uta
Thanks to everyone for your continued hard work and support!
