from the office of the chancellor

Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2022!

After the pandemic harbored our opportunities to celebrate your monumental milestone and some years of your face-to-face education, the long wait is over, you are now standing with pride and honor to declare yourselves as graduates of Mindanao State University - General Santos Senior High School.

I would like to congratulate you and your parents for this another achievement in your life. Also my felicitations to your Heads, Faculty and Staff who answered the challenges and innovations brought by online education As your Acting Chancellor, it is of beaming joy in seeing you all jubilant in this grand rite. Dear graduates, you hurdled a great feat and you are a remarkable SUCCESS. As we all know, success comes from a Latin word “succedere” which means “come close after” then it evolved to “successus” which means “advance” and “a good, happy outcome.” You all represent the meanings attributed to the word success. You come and enter the gates of your beloved Pamantasan, let yourself be equipped and prepared for your future careers. Today, we close this chapter and that you advance to greater heights and all your alma mater can do is to pray for your good, happy life.

during my dialogues among the stakeholders of the University, I realized that our secret why we survive through all of these challenges is that we choose to be smart.

To be smart is not easy, one should be willing to learn from the past, maximize the present and strategize for the future. As we steer the wheel towards success, with our hard work and inspired hearts, we are truly unstoppable.

Graduates, you are unstoppable on your right. Use all the lessons and learning you gained from those two years of your academic rigor. Dream bigger for yourself, for your family and loved ones and for all those who believe in you. Serve our country with honesty and integrity. Inspire humanity and the future generation to strive for a just, better world for everyone.

Your Alma Mater will always pray and hope for your ultimate success that you become a responsible citizen of our nation, an individual of purpose, truth and excellence.

May the Almighty bless you!

Padayon SHS Graduates! Mabuhay ang Pamantasang Mindanao!

MSU General Santos has faced a lot of challenges in the previous years, from the fangs of pandemic and poverty, of uncertainty and depressing moments, we all together triumphed to overcome those. As I pondered

OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Greetings of peace and solidarity to all!

Today is another proof that the pandemic is never a reason for us to stop celebrating the culmination of the two-year stay in MSU-Gensan of the senior high school graduates. This year’s celebration is more momentous because we return to our face to face graduation ceremony and our graduates will be able to step into the stage and receive their diplomas.

This is also the time to recognize the people who serve as the front liners in the lives of the graduates through their years of stay in Senior High. First are the teachers. Today is a celebration of your time, effort, and passion as the second parents of the graduates. Congratulations for training them to be independent and responsible learners and for expanding their horizons. MSU-Gensan is assured that you have equipped them with the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare them for their next journey and that you have inculcated to them the best practices and attitudes of being an MSUan.

Second are the parents and guardians. My sincerest gratitude to you for entrusting the education of your children to MSU-Gensan Senior High School. Today is a celebration of your hardships, of your never-ending support, of your happiness, and of your success as parents and

guardians for accompanying the graduates in their journey through their two years in senior high. Congratulations to you for finishing the senior high milestone in the education of your children. Their journey will not stop here. They will move on to set higher aspirations. Their path will not be easy, but with you as their guide and support, they will overcome any difficulties and will attain their goals in life.

And to the senior high graduates. Today is a celebration of your tears and joy in finishing all your academic requirements and in making your parents happy for your achievements. We are proud of your hard work and perseverance. We are proud that you never gave up, that you pushed on and never surrendered despite the hurdles and challenges you encountered. We are proud of your achievements now and we look forward to the continuation of your journey to college or to your next destination. And we know that you can do and achieve greater things.

As you leave the gate of the MSUGensan senior high school, always remember these three things:

Never stop to dream. Dream big but not dream high. The two are different. When you dream big, you align your goals and plans to your capacity and capability to reach them. You recognize your limitations, but these limitations do not hinder you to pursue what

you want but these instead will motivate you more to work your way towards achieving your dream. Dreaming high, on the other hand, is associated with blind ambitions that usually cause frustrations and failures. Dream big dreams and achieve them with pride that you have done your best.

Never give up. You will face more challenges and more difficulties after senior high—physically, mentally, financially, socially. This is natural and normal in life. As such, be ready to face them head on. And when you think that you have done your best and still fail, stand up again. Failures are not the end of everything. Start all over again when you need to. Find another perspective to things. Never give up. When you give up, that is the end for you.

And never stop to RISE: respect others, act with integrity, serve people, and pursue excellence. Wherever you go, whatever you do, you will always be LEGENDS.

Once again, Congratulations to all of you!

letter from the office of the directress

My warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to our fifth batch of Senior High School graduates!

What a tumultuous two years it has been, as you faced the challenges of a global pandemic. Despite being tested at an extraordinary time, you have survived them with determination and commitment leading you to this pivotal time in your lives.

Let this graduation be a reminder that with hard work, perseverance, competence and zeal for excellence, you are capable in achieving your dreams and aspirations. Let this be an inspiration for you to make valuable gains for your future.

As you unfold new chapters of your academic journey, with passion, purpose and most importantly your faith in the Omnipotent Creator, will surely bring you to greater heights and offer you vast opportunities. Whatever paths you will pursue, surely life will give you twists and turns, and no matter how tough life may be, forge on, carrying with you the knowledge, skills and values you have gained from your alma mater that made you resilient and flexible.

To the university officials and administrators, faculty members, beloved parents, and all other internal and external partners, we deeply appreciate your efforts in fulfilling each and everyone’s significant role in the development of our learners especially during the implementation of distance learning. Together, we share this success!

Again, congratulations and may you have a wonderful and blessed graduation, Batch Marahuyo!

And always bear in mind that while education is a fundamental human right, it also gives upon a greater responsibility to contribute to the enrichment of others and the betterment of the society. Strive not only for your success, but more so for this country’s progress.

Mabuhay, Legends!

Finally, after countless hours of Google Meets, struggling to find a signal just to attend online classes, multiple group chats flooding our Messenger app, and having to deal with groupmates who just won’t cooperate, we are at the end game. But of course, we can’t move forward without acknowledging that it is indeed disheartening that the scenarios mentioned above defined our senior high school life. Instead of the famed multitude of face to face events and memories that became the reason why most of our batchmates sought out to study in MSU, we were stuck in our homes. That’s the reality we had to face—being the pandemic batch; two whole years spent in front of screens and having to adapt to the new normal. However, isn’t that what makes us unique? What makes us standout?

Despite facing a literal pandemic, the entire planet experiencing a daunting event, every single person’s life taking a pause—despite all of that, our batch powered through. Through our resiliency, determination, and of course because of our ever supportive families, friends, and faculty, we persisted. Marahuyo, up to this day, persists.

Batch Marahuyo has been a wonder to be with, even if the only moments we got to spend as a whole were during the graduation practices and the graduation itself. Truly, we have been patient, and it is because of that patience that we, the editorial staff, are of the utmost grateful for. We thank you for your patience. And with that said, on behalf of the Darangen 2022 Editorial Board, we would like to sincerely apologize for the delays in curating this yearbook. In the time that it took to publish this project, the team underwent certain conflicts with both communication and time,

most especially the fact that after graduation it was time to return to face-to-face setup, and everyone needed their time to adjust not only for college but to a life post-pandemic. Again, we apologize and we hope for your understanding.

Moving on, most likely everyone is already in college now. Some are probably thinking about shifting, the lucky few are happy about where they are, and also there are those who decided to take a pause from the academic life—wherever you are, we are proud of you! No matter where you are in the world and wherever you are in your life, let this yearbook be a reminder of the incredible feat of graduating that you have achieved, the tumultuous journey you have powered through, and the people that were with you along the way that will remember you fondly. You are not only a survivor, you are a LEGEND! Once a legend, always a legend. Siklab Senior High! Thank you, Marahuyo!

Best,

To make up for the delay, our team prepared an additional thank you gift for each and every Marahuyo Legend! Scan the QR below!

VICTORIOUS CAST

Here I am, once again

Feeling lost but now and then

I breathe it in to let it go

And you don’t know

Where you are now

Or what it would come to

If only somebody could hear

When you figure out how

You’re lost in the moment

You disappear

You don’t have to be afraid to put your dream in action

You’re never gonna fade you’ll be the main attraction

Not a fantasy

Just remember me

When it turns out right

‘Cause you know that if you live in your imagination

Tomorrow you’ll be everybody’s fascination

In my victory

Just remember me

When I make it shine!

Reaching high

Feeling low

I’m holding on but letting go

I like to shine

I’ll shine for you

And it’s time to show the world how

It’s a little bit closer

As long as I’m ready to go

All we have is right now

As long as you feel it inside you know

Everyone can tell you how it’s all been said and done

That harder times will change your mind and make you wanna run

But you want it

And you need it

Like you need to breathe the air

If they doubt you

Just believe it

That’s enough to get you there
