Fire Extinguisher Inspection

Fire Extinguisher Inspection Fire extinguishers are a critical component of any commercial kitchen. Every year, they are responsible for keeping fires under control and saving lives. Fire extinguishers should be inspected every year to make sure they are in working order and ready for their next use. Here are some tips on how to inspect your fire extinguisher:

Check the pressure gauge on the side of the fire extinguisher. It should read between 40 and 60 pounds of pressure. If it is lower than this, call for service or replace it immediately. Open up the unit with an inspection key that comes with your purchase. Look inside of the cylinder to see if there is any debris or corrosion on any parts of the cylinder. If you find anything like this, replace it immediately. Test out your extinguisher by pulling out one end so that water can shoot from it like a hose. Then turn it upside down and pull out another end so that more water can come out from there as well. This will test if all parts of the unit work properly and not leak when you pull them apart from each other.
