Franklin County Fire DIstrict 3 is a combination department with career, volunteer, and resident firefighters working together to provide outstanding service to our community. We serve a population of approximately 8,000 people in 205 square miles of Franklin County. We respond to approximately 750 calls per year. About fifty percent of these calls are for medical assistance such as minor injures, auto accidents, and severe medical emergencies.
Franklin County Fire Protection District 3 provides the best quality fire, emergency, medical, disaster response, and fire prevention services to the citizens of our communities. We do this at the most reasonable cost possible, without compromising creativity, innovation, growth, and stability. We are continually striving to better equip our district and provide increased firefighter training opportunities in an effort to increase both the safety of the citizens we serve and the firefighters that respond.
Fire recruit academy is held once a year, in the fall, and lasts for three months. The district provides all training and personal protective equipment to new volunteers once academy is completed.
During probation training the responder will report for required training and respond at their assigned station during calls.
After completing one-year probation period, the responder will have the option to participate responder available shifts (shift coverage) at the station. Volunteers are encouraged to cover a minimum of one shift a month.
The resident firefighter program provides FCFD3 with 24-hour staffing in the response area. Residents are rewarded with appropriate training, and educational opportunities, to help achieve this goal.
Volunteer/Sleeper shifts are available as well. Ask for additional details if interested.
