Go to Joseph, Our Unfailing Protector: Considerations on the Life and Virtues of 1924 St joseph, with Examples for each Day of the Month
Church, Anglicanism and Lutheranism.[3][4] In both Catholic and Protestant traditions, Joseph is regarded as the patron saint of workers and is associated with various feast days. Pope Pius IX declared him to be both the patron and the protector of the Catholic Church, in addition to his patronages of the sick and of a happy death, due to the belief that he died in the presence of Jesus and Mary. In popular piety, Joseph is regarded as a model for fathers and has also become patron of various dioceses and places. “According to the Gospels it seems likely that Joseph died in the latter part of the Hidden Life and certainly before the Public life and Passion of Jesus….., Again, when Christ’s fellow citizens attempted to refute Him by naming His living relatives they omitted to mention His Supposed father (Mt. 13:55). Perhaps our clearest indication lies in the action of Jesus on the cross in commending His mother to St. John’s care (Jn. 19:27)….If he had been living at the time of the Passion, there would have been no need for John to assume the right and the obligation that belonged to Mary’s husband. Indeed the action of Jesus in giving his mother to John would seem to show that Jesus Himself has assumed guardianship of Mary. This would further confirm the supposition that Joseph had died by then. An Image of St. Joseph’s death is found on the website https://www.catholicfb.com/st-joseph-die2/ “Keeping in mind this historical scenario, many traditions hold that Joseph died in the arms or presence of Jesus and Mary. It’s a beautiful image, one that has led the Church to proclaim Joseph the patron saint of a “happy death.” There are numerous accounts of this moment, but one that is particularly touching is from the writings of Venerable Mother Mary of Jesus of Agreda (aka the bi-locating nun). She wrote about the episode in “Mystical City of God,” and is recorded as a private revelation.

Not a land nor country is there where the name of the holy Patriarch is not known and invoked; not a Catholic heart but rejoices upon hearing his praises proclaimed.
