Institutional Events

The Governing Board underwent changes during the financial year 2013/14 further to the change of presidency, which resulted in a correlation of positions. Javier Faus is now the first vice president; Jordi Cardoner, the second and Carles Vilarrubí the third vice president responsible for the Institutional Area and also International. Jordi Mestre was appointed fourth vice president and is responsible for the Football Sports Area. The board gained a fifth vice president, a position held by Manel Arroyo, who is responsible for the Media and Communications Area. The new organisation has also been modified. While Pau Vilanova joined as the new director of the Social Area and head of the fan clubs, Eduard Coll and Pilar Guinovart departed. Coll, who was responsible for handball, presented his irrevocable resignation and his position as head of the section will be taken over by Susana Monje. Guinovart, meanwhile, will stay at the Club as senior director of the OAE (Specialised Services Office). 126 Within the board itself there were also changes. The appointment of Jordi Mestre as vice president meant that two directors took on responsibilities for the Club’s lower level categories. Silvio Elías is responsible for Barça B and Juvenil A, while Ramon Cierco –up to now roller hockey– is the new director of formative football. Josep Ramon Vidal-Abarca continues in the Security Area, a position that he combines with responsibility for the roller hockey team. Toni Freixa continues as secretary of the Governing Board and is also president of the Disciplinary Commission. Javier Bordas, as well as director of futsal and the FC Barcelona representative in the RFEF, is responsible for relations with the national football federations to which the Club’s professionals belong.
